The Circuit of Ireland was always a great pleasure to work on when I used to be a sound recordist with a film crew. Not only was it a terrific tarmac rally attracting a great field of runners and riders, but the Killarney halts were the best of all parties. The bars did great business and a good time was had by everyone. The CoI was very special.
Billy's Chase car crew tried to stop him leaving start of SS23 they saw oil dripped from dry sump union but had got the Count down 321..he may well have won it, thats the fine margins..i suppose 1984 a similar situation went Billys way..Paddy Sullivan VHS 📼 1990s Cork ireland
The Metro is one of my favorite rally cars of all time. It's such a shame it never got the chance to be developed to a point where it could shine on an international stage. Gods knows where it would have been in 87 or 88, if Group B had continued.
The only controversy mentioned by journalists at the time had to do with the extra holes cut in the front bumpers of the Lancias. That modification was already in production at the Lancias factory, but not approved until immediately before the Monte. The teams did not have time to convert the cars and the organizers allowed them to cut the holes to the match the new type intakes.
Group B was probably too fast and the oeganization of these routes was way below par, and the real shame of Group B was the abandonment of Group N- basically Group B with safer cars and half the power.
Just came across the video and comment and thank god someone feels the same. I think group S would have been amazing, better handling with half the power would still have been fast, I’m also sure some teams would have tweaked the cars for more power anyways. But man I always think about how awesome group s would have been

Great videos with beautiful scenery. Your narrow roads are a lot like what I am riding on here in the Azores. I would like to have a vintage Honda Cub or Trail but never seen one here. I bought a Honda Vision 110 and it works great for the island roads, paved and gravel/dirt using dual purpose tires. Thanks for sharing.
Hi. I've done the Sperrins on my C90 from Cookstown, Lough Fea, Davagh Forest. The stone circles. I'll do a longer trip this year around the Sperrins and go further. Great video and the C90 is ideal.
