It's referred to as the Mid Atlantic Accent (look it up) common with Actors & singers. It's noticeable with certain words like 'can't' & 'chance' those words usually sound American when English (British) singers sing them! If that makes sense?!
The accent is still there . Just not as prominent when singing because the inflection and pitch changes the words and the accent . Chances the prominent syllables and hides the accent . It happens in most singers with an accent . It all but disappears. But is still there if you listen for it . It’s pretty common in singing in general.
