a theory i thought of is that PRIDE. sounds like a humble and sad tone because proud people claim to be humble, while HUMBLE. sounds like a prideful and angry tone because humble people claim to be proud
Im such an idiot ive been discrediting god for my accomplishments and I hope god can forgive me for my sins and embrace me in his arms and accept me into heaven Amen
For some reason this was the only song not included from DAMN on the jukebox at the local bar i used to frequent. I always felt disappointed about that.
4:28 The 24 bar also probably referencing that in a perfect world you’ll probably live to see another 24 hours. Meaning in a perfect world there’s uncertainty so a perfect world might not be as perfect as everyone thinks like the fans think of Kendrick being the perfect poet or rapper. Idk it’s a hunch I guess
Yeah, I tried to have this tone of voice to match the darkness of the song but it ended up just being kinda boring lol. Next video there is a lot more enthusiasm
At the beginning of the album he asks is it wickedness or is it weakness in blood. But I feel that in this song it is a turning point with instead of wickedness it is flashiness and instead of weakness it is happiness
This song definitely sticks out from others on the album. Even all these years later, I still get goosebumps hearing it. This video was like a whole documentary, impressive! Obviously one can take the song at face value and appreciate it, but this video greatly expands on it!
For me as a Black woman, this song is the worst on the album and one that I skip every single time. Why? Because I believe Black men are lying through their teeth about why they sleep with white women. They claim it’s because they want to “stick it” to the white man and take something he had. I think it’s bullshit. They have internalized white standards of beauty. Dude, just say you wanted to sleep with a white woman because you thought she was beautiful. Don’t give me this pro-Black nonsense about wanting to get revenge on white men. Nonsense.
Black men claiming to be sexually attracted to white women as revenge is nonsense. Black men have been taught that white women are the beauty standard whether they realize it or not. It is deep ingrained. Deeply internalized. It doesn’t matter how “pro-Black” a Black man is, he will be attracted to white women on a subconscious level because society ingrains white beauty standards in all of our heads, including Black women. I have never bought into the nonsense about Black men and sleeping with white women for revenge. I think it’s an absolute lie.
I think the reason why Pride is important is how it’s the middle point of both the Wickedness and Weakness route of the album. It’s the point where he begins to reflect on whether he should show his weakness and be “Humble” or does he become wicked and demand the “Loyalty” of others.
@@lautarodigioia3338 could be, i never claim to have all the answers that is the beauty about music is everyone can have a different interpretation and they are all equally correct haha
Kendrick should just stick to what made him great. Songs that influence, inspire, touch and relate to his audience. He makes bangers yes, but he’s best and most comfortable when he makes music that resonates with the listeners. Like he said, he makes music that electrifies us, while some pedo makes music that pacifies us.
This song gives me the message of going forward taking all the bad things that happen and the good you do. I believe in karma so for every bad that happens to you there's a good and taking pride in that good is like taking pride in nike Jordans given to you by your older brother for a week. That success is given to you by God because you stood to take all his tests but taking pride in that success is you saying to God that I made all that
