Hi Jenna, is this a one-bedroom apartment or a multi-bedroom apartment? I checked the email from Facebook, it said only interns with spouse accompanying can be guaranteed a one-bedroom apartment.
Thank you for the video. I would be interning at Facebook coming summer (summer of 2022). Did you have to pay the full rent for the apartment out of your salary? I too have an option between housing or Stipend, I am super confused what to choose :P
Yes usually you get the choice between corporate housing or cash 😁But I believe it is better to get the housing if you're not from the city where you'll intern, especially true for NYC!
hey so sorry I'm also deciding between corporate housing and stipend rn for the facebook internship - did you get to use the whole apartment or did you have to share with someone else?
During covid times they're only dedicating one person to each apartment! But prior to covid it was based on location/apartment I would say. I had friends who interned at MPK before covid and lived in a two bedroom with a roommate. I would also consider the fact that the stipend gets taxed as well.
It's like ' g ' is smiling at you and if you ever happened to see it, How is your internship is going is it still going on, ended would love to know your after thoughts and make some videos about how you get there and journey maybe.
Hello Arpit! My internship with Gusto ended last August, and I had a great time. The people there are some of the kindest, most passionate people I've met, and I was able to make fast, meaningful impact due to the small size and rapid growth of the company. I don't know if I'll get to making a video on how I got there, but to give a brief summary I attended Grace Hopper Conference in 2019 where I got in contact with Gusto, went through a round of interviews, and voila :)
hey were you still taking classes full time while doing this internship? If so, do you have any advice on how to balance work and college? I'm going to start an internship soon during classes and exams and I am a little worried hahah
Hey, I don't know what company you're interning with but in 90% of cases I would not recommend this. My uni didn't want to let me take any classes during my full time internship (35~h per week) and I had to push to be allowed to take one class. The truth is that it's a lot more demanding than it seems and you want to keep your grades up and you want to make sure you do well enough in your internship so that you have a chance to come back to the company or at least get a good reference. It's much, much better if you graduate 6 months later or take classes in the summer, than to do both internship AND classes. Good luck!
Hello, sorry for the late reply! But I would totally agree with Laura, I would not recommend taking classes full time while working on a typical 40hr/week internship as well. I was not taking classes at this time :)
Hi Jenna!🙋♀️ I think this video is really interesting. I’m currently working as a software engineer but I’ve been thinking of pursuing Computer Science 🤔 Thanks for sharing this video. We also use feature flags for new features 🙌🙃
