This feels like these AI sensors are just instrumentation with extra steps. Same with self-driving cars it offers nothing benefit to humanity except dulling their skills, readiness & competencies & tolerate laziness. Age of AI is like Torturing devices invented in the middle age. They are meant to exist but not as the pedestal or symbol of man's peak supremacy & control but as a mere tool to teach man more what really is humanity.🤔
There isn't a pallet warehouse in the world that only stores pallets on one level slightly raised level. A robot forklift with no forks or lift is completely useless.
Our understanding is that this (AMR and top module) is more for intralogistics to move materials from one work center to another in production areas. The use of the pallets in this demonstration were more an example than to indicate specific use for warehouse pallet moving.
It's important to recognize that any automation technology cannot replace like for like processes, as built, before the technology was available. Pallet movement, while having a really attractive market share, will not be an easy application to fully automate with the existing technologies at current prices. I'd love to talk more on which pallet movement processes make sense given out current technology constraints! Reach out so we can learn together!
Never have I seen such requirement. Also lots of hours they claim to have run, but if new firmware the hours on past dont count to claim experience/proof in use

Goid videi. I use a cheap plc which has a limited amount of programming for safety. For example turn off all outputs if communication is lost. All Plc's have the sane programming and functional work as a remite io.

From my experience, i do not like to use mqtt devices to set actuators. For read mqtt devices, I agregate the data locally. With single board computers, this is easy to do. I do this for several reasons. 1. The local control system or the operator might have use with this data. Having to access the mqtt data from the cloud does not make sense, when the data is available locally. 2. The clould software does not use the mqtt data directly. Instead, the data is transformef into status data and time tagged logs so that many services could access the data. This in the heart of event broket architecture in cloud microservices.) If this step is done at the edge node, then: a. bulk transfers can be made to the cloud. Cheaper bandwidth and Cpu costs on cloud. b. The aggregated data can be used locally. Like have all the cloud functions. In conclusion, most Iot vendors want to such data into the cloud. The result is that the user may have different cloud intetfaces for each device class. I want control of the Iot data locally.
I use plcs and arm processors to monitor my commerical avocado grove. the historical data from control system allows me to reduce labor costs, as problems can be detected instead of manual inspection

I run a farm operation with PLCs. I had a cloud site on an Azure Virtual Machine. After several years I go ride of the cloud site. I found that I was writing code in both places. Virtually every service that the cloud offers can be duplicated on Arm devices such as the Raspberry Pi with 4 G Ram with large SSD drives and docker containers. Also, if AI deep learning is required, then devices from NVIDIA can handle the load at the edge. The pressing need is for dev ops capability at the edge, something like edge Kubernetes. The edge site and the cloud would be managed in the same manner and if cloud capability is needed, it is easier to tie the two systems together. Been doing this task for around 8 years and the role of the cloud has evolved over time.
OG original programming team for the Robotic Weld Assembly line here. Sad none of the original launch team is still there. What's up Mike G. and Ian? They kept moving our shift rotating. Couldn't do it anymore. 2nd shift or nothing at all. Had fun and met a lot of good people there.
