This might be the best ska demo of the 90s - no wonder these guys signed to a major label just a few years later. Yes I am still busting this out in 2024 and not sure I will ever stop.
These guys piss all over the surfing today. People are more concerned with uploading their waves for content than surfing. This years contest in Newquay was very poor in comparison. Anyway, a great reminder of good times. Thanks for posting.
for how old this contest is and how much the sport's progressed, and how shitty the waves were, everyone had pretty decent style and surfed pretty good.
Australians bogan cockneye accent is probably the most obnoxious thing ive ever heard, and over half of them sound that way....followed closely by American southern hicks. On the flip side of that, a well educated well spoken person with good English, and an australian or southern accent sound quite nice. Interesting dichotomy there
Ahh the early 90s, when everybody rode boards that were way too narrow with way too much rocker. At least on the east coast. Thank god the Fish came back! I didn’t even know what they were until the late 90s. No internet and all the magazines had were potato chips.
They were about zillion times more responsive than those aaaabsolute Dogs they were ridding in the 80s. No wonder surfing progressed like Never before in the early 90s. The 80s were lame AF apart from Christian and Archy.
Great memory. I beat Marty Thomas in my second heat, the Wednesday before this. 4 man heat. We both advanced. He went on to finish in the round of 16. So Ironic, I was just down at Bartons place this morning practicing American Football with his little boy Lion! ❤🤙🏼
So good to see old footage available of my brother & his mates surfing Bells. This is the only year I went to that contest so glad it's preserved for history.
The North Head sewerage system was still pumping shit from Manly to Palm Beach saw many Turds floating past while surfing and Warriewood was another shit pumping station The Metropolitan Water Board were responsible for that shit fight The UNION'S would got on strike for more pay and held the State Government to ransom the arseholes .
