WARNING- READ BELOW BEFORE DOING THIS MOD. Does it work? Yes and No. Even with the shorting of this, I still had to dig out in the dirt to make the pedal work. Now there will be times when you may can use the pedal without digging, but for me, I still have to dig a holes out in the ground to use it. I am looking to drill more holes up higher for more adjustments. WARNING: be careful doing this mod, as you WILL have to drill holes up top before the pedal will latch in the locking (traveling) position. Due to cutting, the top hole used to secure pedal all the way up, can not be used. Wolferidge did mention this could/would be a problem if I cut/shortened the pedal. PLEASE make sure your secure the foot pedal when moving splitter to place to place- otherwise you may have pedal in down position and it could drag/catch on ground/road and bend it.
Hi Jerry. This is Al Lehn Club Dora. So it looked to me you shortened it by 1/2-3/4 of an inch. Looked like you did a good job. Now does it work ,let me know if you could please. I talked with Bob Nelson from Wolfe Ridge about all the dirt that gets sucked into the air cleaner . They are going to see if they can’t remedy the problem. I seen the Wolfe ridge group at the HFH this weekend.
Looks like i died and went to splitter heaven lol. One question tho,i bet gnarly pieces are a real pain,i can only imagine theyd get stuck both ways? Id choose this machine over all others, but im betting theres problem pieces that only a single wedge could work around the Knotts?
Jerry I received my 22-28 about two weeks ago. It is simply amazing! It is massive! I have not split any wood yet but am getting ready. You saved me a real nightmare by telling me about the tongue weight on the double log lift model that you have. I am VERY THANKFUL for your advice!
Jerry I have to thank you again! Because of your feedback I canceled my order for the dual log lift 22-28. I switched back to the standard single lift version. There is no way I could have moved the machine under my current circumstances. I really want to have two log lifts but that 1,000+ tongue weight was a game changer! Keep up the good work! Gary
It's the longer 36" grate. I ordered it that way, and with Dual log lifts. If you don't have a conveyor, I strongly reccomend getting the longer 36" grate so tje wood doesn't fall off as easy. Of course if you have conveyor, it doesn't matter if the pan is shorter
Seems you need to add something to that back arm of the box wedge to pull the wood further back - see you constantly have to manually do it so that the wood is fully seated for the next push. Seen the same issue on other Eastonmade box wedges. Maybe clamp a 4x4 piece of wood or something to that pull bar see if it helps.
