Mr Jimmy, do you happen to know if that’s a veneer or a maple cap? As inexpensive as the beat guitars are are I would assume veneer, but GG would normally let you know if it has a veneer or not. Thanks for your videos, very informative!
@@Mojo_jojo_panda_jo Thanks so much for watching and commenting. So glad to hear you are enjoying the channel. I am not 100% sure, but would also assume a veneer is used on the majority of these maple tops. Appreciate your stopping into the channel and hope to see you around more! 🎸👍
@@13druber Ha!! They (Fesley) came to me my friend. Nobody sold anything to anybody. Just a honest review “right out of the box” like I do all my reviews. It’s a “budget” guitar that actually plays and sounds more than the price point would lead you to believe. Thanks for stopping in…🎸👍
Happy to find your channel. Your demonstration of the tones was great. So many tubers just roll out the hive of bees and single notes. I'm glad you didn't start with that. I got this guitar for the second time this week. The first time it came with a cracked neck. That happened in shipping because the string was broken at the nut. It was replaced. I really agree with your compliments on this guitar, I really like the neck, the sound and the light weight. I took it to band practice Saturday and found the pickups are microphonic. Feedback on very high gain sounds and the pickup select switch, when toggled, was blasting though my amp speaker. Not sure which way to go with it. I don't know if I should contact IVY, wax the pickups or replace all electronics.
@@daveallen9921 Hi Dave…thanks so much for watching and the kind comments. At “studio” volume I have not noticed any microphonic sounds coming from it, but I have not had it up to 11 either on stage or in a band situation. 😎 Yeah, you can try waxing them or you could remove the covers as well and see if that helps a bit…sometimes the microphonics goes away with uncomfortable pups..🎸👍
Jimmy, would it make sense to polish the frets first and then do the fret board cleanup and oiling so there is a single cleanup process or is there a reason you do it in the sequence you suggest? Thanks.
@@philiptalk You can do it however you want that makes it easier for you…I usually go over it twice anyway, so just trying to catch what I can for a quick cleaning and setup! Thanks for stopping in…🎸👍
@@invictusonline Thanks for watching and commenting. They are really totally different guitars. This a Jassmaster style, in a short scale and the Firefly FFPTH is a Thinline semi-hollow Tele with the standard Fender scale of 25.5” Both are fine additions, so just depends on the type of guitar/body and style you play. Hope that helps, and thanks again for stopping into the channel! 🎸👍
@JimmyStewart1 thanks for the response :) I'm not too concerned with the body shape, or semi hollow or not. On the moniprice website, they list the scale length of the indio as 648mm or 25.5". Do you have some other information that shows this is a short scale? I am looking for the standard fender scale length but with some p90s. You spoke so highly of the ffpth I was curious if you had a personal preference. Mostly based on sound of the pickups and playability. I've been enjoying your videos so much. Great playing and personality :)
@@invictusonline You man be correct on the scale length..Just thinking that most jags, Jazzmaster, Mustangs come in at 24” The FFPTH is rather hard to get ahold of these days, but it’s a great Tele with P90’s…the IVY ITG-400 is another! 🎸👍

Poly relics always look fake once you've seen real nitro finished vintage and or well done nitro relic guitars. Neither poly nor nitro naturally wears like that so it just looks off.

@@JimmyStewart1 I don't get into his known band stuff much either. BUt his playing in interviews man, wow. IDK how he keeps from falling asleep playing for Crew
@@DrMurdercock Yes, from what I have heard him play, he is a very versatile player and pretty incredible in a number of styles…but that whole stage persona just bothers me so unfortunately, I just don’t follow him much…as far as the guitar goes…I wanted it for the build quality and uniqueness not that it was a “tribute model” I don’t use a “kill switch” but it’s fun to play around with nonetheless. 😎
@@JimmyStewart1 Same, i dont care about the kill switch, but its there i guess. Love the rest of it though, the real one is like 5 grand so its out of the question. Love, love that wheel truss idea. Have used it on my recent guitar builds. Remember folks your St. Leo Fender Who Can Do No Wrong did not play guitar he just wanted to get paid , sorry. Agree with you, folks forget that wood is not a uniform material. Just finished a custom guitar body of the wood I hate to work with the most...Alder. found hidden defect and body split like a watermellon😂
@@trinacria1956 Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Yes, Leo was not a player. He took suggestions from any player who would talk to him, but in the end he did come up with some iconic models and did pretty well for himself…😎 Wood is a funny thing…getting it just right for a build is not as easy as some believe. Composites are in general, more stable when done correctly. I am not a full believer in the whole “tone woods” myth when it comes to electric guitars. Tone is subjective, and comes mostly from the player’s hands, pickups and amp… Sorry to hear about your latest build…keep the faith and keep pickin’….🙏🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 thanks sir. Agree totaly. I have used some beautiful wood but in the end it's to jack up the price rather than musicality. Bob Benedetto was honest in his book showing that it was design and execution by making a guitar with knotty low grade hardware pine. Have done some controlled live blind tests with amusing results of dropped jaws when they picked $200 over the iconic college tuition priced guitar. In the end the word is PLAY it's for production of joy.
Crazy, I was watching this video yesterday, really really sad I missed this guitar, hoping, wishing one day I’ll be able to snag one for $250. Well, based on what I have read and researched, Harrison’s Tele was indeed a prototype but was not a solid rosewood slab, but made of 4 pieces (two for the front and two for the rear) and chambered for weight relief, according to Martin Kelly, guitar historian and co-author of The Golden Age of Fender: 1946-1970. Here is a bit of Kelly’s article for Guitar Player: “The first Rosewood Tele was constructed from four pieces of rosewood glued together - two on the top and two on the bottom,” Kelly explains. “Harrison's prototype guitar was made from four bits of rosewood, whereas production examples seem mostly to be made using a solid slab of rosewood on the back and a solid slab on the front. All Rosewood Teles feature a thin layer of maple sandwiched in the center of the body. All Rosewood Teles feature a thin layer of maple sandwiched in the center of the body Martin Kelly “George’s guitar was chambered - perhaps more so than production models - to alleviate weight. Rosewood is a dense wood, and production Rosewood Teles can often be very heavy, even though they’re chambered. They vary a lot in terms of weight, but I’m reliably told George’s guitar is lighter than most production examples P.S. I just assumed you meant to say “rosewood” here and not mahogany.
