Producer, Director and Dad! There will be a variety of different things posted here, so some might be for you and some not. You can check out my production company 3-D Theatricals here on RU-vid for lots of theatre related content.
@DistantCousin I totally agree. I actually got to live in Berlin for a spell and did a lot of research on Christopher and the real Sally, Jean Ross, and she was in fact MUCH closer to the revival portrayal. In fact the 1997 revival was the closest to how it really was, so I also get frustrated when directors don't research. She was a horrible actress, singer and dancer, but Christopher said she had something about her that you just could help love and watch every moment of.
@SOCAL25 Well it's all done and dusted now I'm afraid . I gave a lot of input to the director given that I am a Cabaret enthusiast and fountain of knowledge. Whilst some was taken on board, the director was firmly fixed on having a Sally based more on Julie Harris in I Am A Camera than anything else. Twee, safe, old fashioned. Such a shame. Like another amateur review of Cabaret I read yesterday, if the Sally is not a strong, defining character she just becames one of many lead characters.
@DistantCousin I am SO happy to hear you are doing CABARET and so sad to hear your Sally doesn't get it/ Must mean the director isn't going in this direction and going the safer route? Either are great if executed well! I hope that in the rehearsal process she finds her way and hits it out of the park! it's a hard role. The roles in that show are daunting and really difficult. it's a good thing the book is amazing!
@auriellis Thanks so much. it was so awesome as a director to get an actress willing to do that. it's a hard thing to do when you are a singer, but when you know the story is the most important you can really get stellar performances and I am so proud of the work she did with me to create this craziness. =) Thanks again for the awesome comment!
Excellent performance - she "gets" Sally completely. I'm currently in an amateur production of Cabaret, as The Emcee, and our Sally is not good at all! Not gritty or intense like this great girl!
This is one my favorite versions I've ever seen. As a singer myself, I know how hard it is to give up the perfect vocals and give yourself into the role and the moment. Jeanette should be proud of her performance and I think the direction on this scene was fantastic. Good job!
Queenie is the lead in the show, Kate (also an incredible role) is the second female lead and of the 4 main leads she is the smallest. Even though they are all huge and awesome parts. =) That is just technically what it is.
Actually only correct on one account. She is straighy, as is the director (staright male who knows what's funny) and the lyrics were written by a man...not sure of his sexuality, but I think he's gay? Thanks so much for stopping by to watch!!
Don't you worry. We are well aware of how incredible she is and she is very featured in all the stuff we do. It's just not posted, but it will be. A lot of stuff will be up on our website soon! Thanks for listening to our clip!
I'm sorry but Marisa Esposito needs to be featured a little better! Her voice is amazing and I'm going through withdrawal here trying to find anything she's done after Reverse Osmosis!
Thanks!!! She was a blast to work with and so willing to do whatever needed to make this number what I wanted. She was always, after a long rehearsal, wanting to stay and work it. The work truly paid off and it shows how incredible things can be when you take risks. Thanks for stopping by and watching!!!
