Those who say Athens is abd or scary or whatever, try going to Menidi where Roman or Nomadic people live in north west of Athens, you're gonna change your opinion, places like Exarcheia and Omonia ane Vikroria arent that bad, they're only unclean areas
I've worked at Exarchia Square 6 years ago and I can confirm that indeed it was a bit dangerous at night because there was no police that could enter the square until 2020 because they (anarchists) chased them away. Junkies, drug dealers, bloody fights and gun shots was a usual thing that time and the only thing that kept me safe was that I talked with most of them cause I worked there and they got to know me. Of course there are more dangerous places in the center of Athens like Metaxourgio or Omonia but the most dangerous are a bit far from the center and no youtuber have visited any of them yet.
@@AdventuresFactory The one you ate is from Ukraine. Most restaurants, specially in touristic places, due to economic crisis buy frozen plates from other cheaper countries. It's more convenient than preparing a fresh one pay an employee and pay the electricity...Of course in a country in debts the quality of everything falls. Don't come to Greece!!!
I didn't plan to stay too long. Istanbul was on my way to the Czech Republic. Which was my destination, but I ended up going to other countries and not Czech Republic. Lol
Athens is ugly, dirty and dangerous. I am an athenian, born from athenian parents from athenian ancestry. I have moved out of Athens 20+ years ago, returning only for the Public Sector Services that are, all, located in the center of Athens. This city has not elected an athenian as a mayor the last 58 years!!!!
welcome to Turkey the country of thieves they can stole your money they can rap you at night so just don’t go there on actually no need to visit. This is not necessary. You can find better country more cheaper around.
I went there many years ago in the late 90s. I loved it. Interested to go again and see what it’s like now. I was there in winter so I guess it wasn’t quite so busy. Sucks to be scammed though and it is so unfortunate that a minority of people can leave a bad taste in your mouth when in reality the majority are wonderful. Doesn’t matter where. You should try some other cities and towns in Turkey. I found the country people to be very friendly and trustworthy and hospitable.
Exarheia are not dangerous, they’re political! Only cops should be afraid, there’s nothing but solidarity between people there. Also 3rd world country? You’re full of bullshit
Exarheia is a brilliant place. It does look terrible to someone coming from North America, small broken roads, barely any space for pedestrian traffic, and a lot of graffiti. Having said that, it does have a character. By the way, I didn't mean the country looks like a third-world country. I meant Exarhia. And when I said it has character, I meant the whole of Greece. So all the good stuff I said about Greece, you didn't hear? 😄.. I love Greece. It's probably one of my favorite countries in the world. By the way, when I travel, I don't care about infrastructure. That is just a bonus. It's the people. Greek people are straight up, honest, welcoming, generous, and if they don't like something, they'll say it in your face in a friendly manner. That just shows substance. Obviously, there are always outliers in every society, but I just loved Greece personally. I'm making more videos soon. You'll understand my perspective better.
@@AdventuresFactory I did hear the good parts also and your love of athens, but exarheia is a very sensitive area that's fighting gentrification. It has always been the place where all the movements against police brutality, economic deprevation and injustice starts. It's a safe area unless your a cop Agree it's not a pedestrian friendly area, but safety isnt just about infastructure, its about the people and to be honest i dont think any part of europe feels more dangerous than North America and the gun laws. Having said that i enjoyed the rest of the video and glad you had a great time here.
There is so many other ways to get around Istanbul besides a taxi. Buses, trams, metro, dolmus, ferry boats. Asian side is more where locals live so better prices. And there are some beautiful places on the Asian side as well. You always fill the gas when you drop the car back off at a rental car place we do that in the United States too. Dude you look like you are asking for trouble everywhere you went. Why you giving strangers money seriously?
I realize that, but in the majority of that part of the world, not even humans are treated well. You gotta remember that different cultures look at the world differently. In religious societies, people tend to see animals as means to serve them delivered to them by a devine plan. I would stand up for animals in the Western world, or I can be kind in there and find some food to give that animal, but I really can't do much that could jeopardize my safety. They also view that as an act of snobbery. The thought process is "How dare you see an old man or a child begging and not help them and rather go to their country and protest animal rights." It gets really tedious. It's better to spread awareness and show kindness to animals while monitored over protesting. Things can get way too complicated before you realize.
@@AdventuresFactory You can help by not participating in activities where animals are not being treated properly. For the record, I have lived in Egypt off and on for many years. There are great efforts being made by Egyptians themselves to change how people view and treat animals. Even if you don't want to say anything directly, you can help by not participating in these activities and making them profitable.
thank you for the video, what is the difference between Istanbul vs Cairo and which one do you like more and why? i want to go with my wife to one of the destinations.
I would say it's harder to get alcohol in Egypt, Even though it's available, it costs an arm and a leg. You'll never get wasted at a bar in Egypt. But you can always bring 2 L with you and get it delivered to the Airbnb. Egyptian scammers were much nicer to me. At least they smiled and made me feel good. Egypt has desert beauty, yet turkey has infrastructure beauty. Egyptians spoke English everywhere, yet Turkey seemed impossible to find english speakers. In both places, avoid staying in tourist areas. Take an airbnb in expad areas and visit the tourist places, otherwise you'll have a bad time. Expad areas in Egypt are an experience, in turkey, it just looks like your average neighborhood. Egypt is much cheaper, even if they give you a tourist's price. Your money will feel larger than life in Egypt. People in general feel more grumpy in Turkey. Food is good in both places, but my stomach was less happy in Egypt. Ancient Egyptian history is much more interesting than abrahamic history. There are a lot more characters, gods, things out of the ordinary to see, stories, buildings, etc. To be honest, in my opinion, I would choose Greece first, then Egypt, then Turkey. All of them have a similar ticket price from North America, but Greece offers all the pluses and more. I didn't feel like leaving Egypt, but I ran away from Istanbul. I've seen many places in Turkey on RU-vid that look stunning, but you can always get that in Greece. People in Greece are larger than life. They're welcoming, generous, polite, and they go out of their way to speak to you, help you out, etc. Food is not that fancy in Greece, but the ingredients taste amazing. A 1 L bottle of wine costs 3-4 Euros at any corner store. Their history is fascinating. People speak English everywhere. It's one of my favorite countries.
In China. Straight from the airport some drivers will approach and wont go away keep follow you. Just make sure they would leave you. And find a legit taxi egere drivers are waiting in the car or book a airport drop off service
You never should show up to a foreign city without researching it first. These scams are in every major city. You're totally naive. You might want to stick around Vancouver.
Thank you for the work you did to put this together, I’m looking with the idea of an Istanbul holiday, now I’m disgusted and turned off, Turkish dept of tourism need to sort this out, lots of scammers too much, sort it out turkey
I find it strange that you could not find a single positive thing to say about Istanbul with all of its clean streets, beautiful art galleries, museums, connectivity, and easy transportation, but with Egypt, despite Cairo clearly falling behind Istanbul in so many ways, starting with the vegetation, the weather, and the food, you are only showing the positives. Remember the fraudulent activity that bothered you in Istanbul. Cario is just as awful, but you don't discuss it here. Hmm, fascinating. Are you Egyptian? Is this what it is?
I mentioned it a lot, go back to the turkey video, and count how many times i said the word beautiful. In Egypt, people ask you for tips upfront, and it's a couple of cents or dollars. You don't really feel it. In istanbul, it starts at larger numbers, and the person asking you intimidates you. I didn't feel safe in Taksim Square, but I was fine in Cairo. I only felt intimidated at the pyramids area. I visited it again this year, and the taxi driver wanted to charge me 20 bucks for the ride, but suddenly, he started adding toll money to the price. I was going to pay him 35 bucks anyway, so I confronted him. The guy apologized and gave me his number to give me a free trip. He was so embarrassed that he refused to take money for the ride by the end of it. But it was again 2 dollars extra that he wanted to charge. I paid him 35 bucks anyway. I'm not a cheap person. Gratuity is part of the Canadian culture, and I understand in Egypt, income is not the greatest. In Istanbul, on the other hand, a ride like that for 50 minutes or so will start at $65. And the driver will try to get a $100, but those are not the prices, because you can rent a car for a cheaper price than the ride. Everyone might have a different experience at the end. I'm just sharing mine. You probably could go there, act smarter, and not get gouged in either county. I'm just making the videos in a storyline for people to know how to avoid bad situations and have a good time. Egypt is simple, stay in a residential area where expads live with Egyptians and visit the touristy areas. Istanbul may be the same, but it wasn't for me. I'll try another city in the future and tell you my experience. Turkey is gorgeous if you know how to do it. I just didn't know. I assumed it's like Canada and didn't do my research.
Men I like your style u are very funny and interesting I just came back from Istanbul vac u explained everything as it is I am waiting for your Greece now thanks.
I already posted one video about Greece. I'm just dealing with a lot now, but I'll get working on videos again. Thank you for taking the time to watch the videos. Your words are encouraging.
Actually public transportation in İstanbul is pretty good. Do not spend your time and money for taxi. Just take a tram or metro. Or just use Martı App for electric scooters. But still if you want to take a taxi you may use apps like Bitaksi or Uber. Don’t let some scammer taxi drivers to ruin your vacation.
After watching your video carefully, I believe that you wanted to get scammed and now you’re complaining like an old woman. it’s your fault because just look at you the way you talk ,the way you act , you asking to be scammed.
Stayed in that same location last week, walked all around there and never felt unsafe. Coming from the US I've noticed a lot of places people say are unsafe in other countries usually got nothing on unsafe areas in the US.
How is possible that you pay 50 usd for a meal you can get that in Swiss and it’s Istanbul turkey !!!! Like wtf are people on their mind are people bc stupid I been there just some days before and we paid that for 3 people and I still think it’s too expensive
Shawarma has a different pie (Lebanese pita) and different filling (cabbage and carrot, lettuce) to gyro , the other things are the same (chicken, tomato, onion) , minus the sauce .
Greek Gyros is actually a listed in NYC company.... the difference with Sawarmi is in trademark legal listing.... Even before the Ottomans conquered Instanbul-Constantinopole, eastern meditereneans had a shared cuisine underthe Roman empire....
thankyou for this amazing video, it almost felt like a documentary. i watched every single minute with full of suspense not like a tour video to just enjoy.
technically the acropolis has been built on for 3500 years, since mycenean athens, but the acropolis that stands today is around 2550 years old, since classical era athens, and the golden age of pericles, which was when all the buildings that stand on the acropolis Today were built.
The prices of everything have increased. Since that was a good and big breakfast with a view of the Bosphorus, I'd say 650TL is the normal price, and can even be considered reasonable (£16 or so). I am sure it used to be half the price, in pounds or dollars too, but as they say, that was then and this is now.
No, they actually had decided beforehand the vote through diplomacy what they were going to vote. The raising of hands was to ensure party discipline and avoid unpleasant surprises, like people voting according to their conscience, not the wish of their party leader. Its bewildering how simple minded most young Greeks still are. I guess thats the reason they ride them so hard in Greece right now.
No law. And laws about everything. Depends on who you are. We have a different legal order for every single person on the planet. Very elaborate, very specialized, very perfect!
Its better to rent a car from an international company. Greece, Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, PERFECT SCAMS. They rely on the good reputation of their forefathers. They are filthy, greedy and dodgy. Dont believe me? Go there, have fun [spoiler: you will not]. P.S. I didnt GO there. I AM from there.
