Where are the examples of the Cornish accent? I played this video hoping to hear it.

I don’t understand how my background came from Cornwall but ancestry migrated to Australia. I grew up in Sydney and speak better English than those from Cornwall. They sound so bogan, as us Aussies would say. My accent never drops a th, or shortens words. It just sounds so cheap and nasty. My grandmother taught me, we speak the queens English.

They spent all that time explaining how Cornish people don't speak the way they do on tv, and then they interview two guys who sound exactly like pirates.

What I find funny is they seem to think pronouncing the letter "r" seems dumb.

So refreshing, fun and overall very impressive examination of the dialect, not like the horrible, patronising, smug, preachy BBC that we are now saddled with.

At least I think that Cornwall is culturally, historically, and geographically close enough to Wales for this to evolve towards concrete administrative and political developments. Why not an administrative and political association of Cornwall and Wales with its Welsh and Cornish Parliament / Senedd Cymru a Kernow? This would also allow Cornwall to be recognized as distinct from England and to benefit in addition from the advantages of Devolution. And in Welsh of course / Ac yn Gymraeg wrth gwrs: O leiaf credaf fod Cernyw yn ddigon agos yn ddiwylliannol, yn hanesyddol, ac yn ddaearyddol i Gymru i hyn esblygu tuag at ddatblygiadau gweinyddol a gwleidyddol diriaethol. Beth am gymdeithas weinyddol a gwleidyddol o Gernyw a Chymru gyda'i Senedd Gymreig a Chernyweg / Senedd Cymru a Kernow? Byddai hyn hefyd yn caniatáu i Gernyw gael ei chydnabod fel un ar wahân i Loegr a chael budd ychwanegol o fanteision Datganoli.

I have Cornish ancestors, but mostly English and Scottish. Stank and Stanly is a common word here. I wonder if it comes from the Cornish Immigrants to America. Hello to my Cornish cousins: Pascoe, Treloar, Chenoweth, John, Chegwyn....

I live in an area in which Cornish people settled around the mid 1800s. It's in South Australia where there were copper mines. The accents of some of the older generation was still evident. Even though they were born in Australia and never even visited Cornwall. They rolled their Rs well too.

You propose that camm bronn should have been bronn gamm if camm was an adjective. Note than in old Breton the adjective was commonly placed before the substantive. Thus the name of the town Camfrout (crooked river). That is an exeption nowadays.

I don't like this. Saying the letter R isn't a throwback. DROPPING the R is a throwback! Car is spelled c a r because there is an R in it. Dropping the R is on you. The old country people know how to say "car". Its you posh fucks who decided you're too lazy to say the letter R. There is an R in the word "car" Kinda kidding but kinda not kidding. Bunch of inbred londoners think they're smart

Tip: If you want to learn the Cornish regional accents (there are several) find a real Cornish person not an Englishman with an iffy generic accent. Should have gone to somewhere like St. Just or Camborne, but no he goes to Penzance. May as well gone to Truro.
