My FAV stain color is Minwax Early American! haha everything I have re-finished in my home is this color <3 I absolutely love that you are taking your time and adding to your home in such a tasteful, intentional and purposeful way. It inspires me to work to do the same in my home. The last piece that you painted black and stained the top and the fancy spun feet was such a bold move - and I am so glad you had the guts to make it! It turned out fabulous! Love it all, keep up the fabulous, and hard work!
Love your taste and choices of treatment for each piece. Really like the wall of baskets above your dining dresser, and love the black piece with the feet and top left natural. The stone fireplace is lovely.
I almost didn't watch your video because of the word 'sovereign' in the title. That word has negative connotations these days, and even if your use of it has nothing to do with that, you might want to rethink using it. Just a thought. You wouldn't want to put people off just because of one word. Also, you should go to jail for painting that last gorgeous piece of furniture.
Thank you so much for sharing with me your perspective! That's not the first time I've heard someone say that to me, and I'm sure it won't be the last, but that change has to start somewhere! As for me, I disagree. I think the world needs more sovereignty. The purpose of my channel is to encourage other women & mothers in particular, who have struggled with their self worth and confidence & found themselves living lives that don't fulfill them that lead to all the things we don't want. I want to be a voice for women who want to lead their own lives & build a life/home/story that reflects who they truly are & who God intended them to be vs. what they have been told or think they should be doing. I've read many beautiful books that speak on regaining your sovereignty and that is exactly what I am here to encourage.
I was team paint, but I think you made the perfect decisions with all of these pieces! I love that stain color as well. That little shelf is gorgeous too! I would maybe find a small wooden vase/vessel for a little bit of seasonal greenery and try that up there? Love the placement!

I'm so glad you didn't paint the sideboard, it looks great. I think it's always best to preserve old furniture in its natural state unless it's severely damaged or something. It's worth far more than what you paid for it and the history is preserved.
What a great and well deserved opportunity!! Seeing the Sequoias is on our bucket list, but my husband wont fly and it's quite a long road trip from SC! 😂 After watching this...I think I'll skip that big hike. You should be so proud of yourself! Since having kids I've found I dont take many risks...I mean I take risks, but not if I feel like I could die. 😂 Isn't it crazy and wonderful how motherhood changes us? My husband doesn’t like flying either 😅 one of the many hurdles we had to get over to make this happen! & I feel you on the risk thing…it’s definitely something we have to take seriously! It made me laugh bc my husband was the one who was all for it before going & I was SO nervous, but then we got up there & he was the one who hesitated more than I! But I’m so grateful we did it together, we definitely work well together under pressure so it bonded us for sure.💖🥰
Absolutely soaking up this season! I've been working to simplify my home, but constantly have to remind myself that nothing will ever be "finished". It is evolving with the stage of life we are in, and we have to step back and admire each step. Thanks for another lovely video! 🩷

Such great finds!!! I collect crocks too, and $5 was def a steal even with the crack. I have a cabinet with frames I have thrifted, and haven't brought myself to remove the original art. I thought it was just me! Another great video! Thank you! ❤
I say paint the sideboard. I painted my dresser black and left the drawers dark wood and it turned out gorgeous. I agree elements of black have a grounding effect and ties things together. You can always strip it back. 🙂
I think adding the black paint as you described would look great! I also loved the wood picture of the flowers. The stool is cool also! In the end do whatever makes you happy with the sideboard. And if you decide to paint it black, that flower picture would look nice above it!
New to your channel and I absolutely love the vibe you have here. For me the side board is stunning as well as your wall display. I personally think the black combination is a little harsh the way it translates on the video and I think it would fall out of trend over time. Just my opinion follow your heart and what you love. Please don’t paint that beautiful old sideboard. I think you should just get some restore wood finish food. Basically it feeds the wood and it will look like it’s brand new without destroying its value. It is absolutely beautiful the way it is.. your home is beautiful
Good buy on the sideboard. I like the banding around the drawers so keep that and paint the rest. Does the banding have a colorin it , if so i might match that. Though, i like the black. I would leave the top wood too.

Please do not paint the sideboard. Just use Renew or wax it. Vintage pieces are so beautiful as long as they are in good shape. And beautiful cottage decor. Baskets on wall is so 70's.
The old side board is so pretty!!! I definitely wouldn’t paint it just use some furniture restore & wax and maybe some rub n buff on the handles but that’s just my taste I think the black is also beautiful!!! ❤
I see old cutting boards all the time while thrifting but never pick them up because I have no idea if they are safe to use. I’d love to use them for their practicality, not merely for decor. Please share how you clean them. I would love to replace my gross plastic ones with real wood ones but buying new is so costly. Thank you for your time 😊 I liked everything in this haul but my favorites are the Florentine mirror and the old stool ❤
I just clean them with Dawn dish soap and water! If you’re not supposed to use them I didn’t know that! 😝 And thank you! That mirror is definitely one of my most favorite finds! 🥰😍
