I was fortunate to see Michael live three times before he left us. First time I saw him was in '95 at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, then two nights in a row in Mancos, Colorado in '96. He is truly missed ❤🙏👌👍✌️
Saw Michael perform at the Berkeley Community Theatre (Leo Kotke opened for him) back in the late 80’s. After the show I was walking to my car and came across him all alone putting his guitar in the trunk of his car. It was a couple blocks from the theatre and no one else was around. I respectfully greeted him and thanked him for the show I’d just seen. He shook my hand, and was very gracious and friendly. We spoke a few sentences and then wished each other a nice evening. A short but very personal moment with a legend. I was lucky to have encountered him unexpectedly like this.

I was 13 when I heard I this over the radio. Immediately I went into our town's small record store. I did not have George Winston's name so I had to explain to the owner what I was looking for . He knew. The man went and picked out the album. I was thrilled that I found it and could not wait till I shared my find with my dad, who was a musician in his own right. That was decades ago and one of my favorite memories looking back. George is the only musician I ever went to see when he played in San Francisco.
A kid in 1986 gave me a Maxell cassette. 90min. Side 1 was Breakfast in the Field. Side 2 Aerial Boundaries. I still can't believe how Michael composed on guitar. Out of deep respect for his work, I've purposely avoided learning any of it. I want to still be transported to that first press of the "play" button and hear "Layover" in an unadulterated state. The Hendrix of the acoustic guitar. His arrangements and vocals are stellar too. Thank you Randy for preserving this for future generations

I have been a super fan of Windham Hill since the late1970’s and it continues today. At one time, I owned pretty much every Windham Hill LP, before switching over to CD and now streaming. Not only is it great timeless music, it has always brought a calmness and serenity to our home. When driving, it helps us really appreciate our surroundings, especially in the country. I still follow and listen to the gang (old and new) regularly via RU-vid Music (paid subscription). Will’s Imaginary Roads label is now the new Windham Hill….lots of great stuff I highly recommend for Windham Hill lovers to check out. Enjoy!!
First heard it on Live on the Double Planet, this one stood out to me. Really unique, the main melody where he hits that high note sounds like a baby cooing
Perfect technique , Super clean and creative. Nobodys topping this. If there is a better version I haven't seen it and I'm you tubing 3 or 4 hours a day.
