Rose Sunday: I ALWAYS remember Mrs Mary P. Corr, who was mistress of the altar Guild when Fr Greg Straub introduced Rose Sunday into our local church kalendar. Mar4y was the woman who first got us our rose (not pink!) roses and always used be be remembered especiaolly on Refreshment Sunday for introducing oaquets of rose colored roses on our lenten and advent altars. We never observed Rose Sundays until Gre Straub's rectprte and were among the first parishes in the Diocese of Easton to do so.
it's a shame that parishioners have to be so loud and chatty during the prelude. it seems as if they treat Avis' hard work as "cover music" instead to the music setting the tone for the upcomimg service. what I am talking about is particularly annoying because it is so readily picked up by the mic system in the nave. Avis works heard. She deswerves to be treated better and not "Oh yeah, that's the organ prelude..." I really think the worship committee ought to list to the broadcasts (which I'm pretty sure they do not do now) to get a sense of how diminished the broadcasts are by the noise od "settling in" parishioners just before the service. There are several "broadcast issues" I've pointed out over the past few months that the rector and worship committee ought to see for themselves and make "check" on. we owe God the best we can offer and present and like any follow=through game plan REVIEW is as important as planning and execution.
