Almost 4 months ago my brother Had a heart attack and as a result have hypoxic brain injuury... initially he can only open his eyes with limited look around movement.. now He can move his lips tongue eyebrows elbow,feet finger,shoulder and head ..but very little. And he yawns too Almost after a month he started breathing on his own... initially was put on a ventilator .. He was initially having food through NG tube now doctors have inserted through stomach what they say as "peg tube". He also have tracheostomy tube in the neck Also mri scans have shown global or severe hypoxic brain injuury He is only 33 . he also produce tears in both eyes.. he cannot even control his head ... ... Right now he is discharge from the hospital and we are caring for at home we are doing physiotherapy ourselves. To protect him from bed sores We are changing his position every hour on bed

Where is his family?? Wife and kids?? That's a very sad future. Living with machines. Very smooth video with too much crap, as if health is the only thing we should be thinking about. Humans are essentially self repair systems. Anyway this is business. All's good if profit is good. By the way, no matter who you are and how advanced your technology becomes. When your time's up. It is the end.

@@beauty007 so I diden't watch this yet but I searched this up to see what it looks like. I'm only 17 and going through medical issues. Basically I have no immune system right now so if I get Covid 19 I'm dead. But the schools have to open up in my state. So your saying if I would go on this machine for a while then I would have to learn how to breath again? If so.... I'm not doing it. I will take my chances with death.

+Nick Vu I'm sorry for your loss. I'm going through the same thing right now with the rest of my family. Would you suggest being in the room when they take the ventilator out, now that you've had experience, or would you not be there? I have some younger members of my family that this situation would be devastating for them to see if it did happen the same way it happened to you. thanks for your help
@nickvu1873
@nickvu1873 8 лет назад
ruinerfixxxer Personally, I would recommend staying with you loved one because even with sedation, I think they are still conscious and can hear what you are saying. As long as they're in the hospital, try to have at least 1 person with them 24/7 so they know they're being cared for. Talk to them and offer them words of encouragement. However, if you're ready to pull the plug, say positive things like how you will be okay if they go.... that way, they won't be worrisome about how their family will be after their death. In conclusion, I would say yes, stay in the room with them. Be at their side through it all. Pray for them, touch them, and talk to them. I know exactly how you feel right now and the best thing for you to do right now is to have a meaningful, 1 on 1 final conversation with them to let them know that you're gonna be okay and that if it's their time to go, that they go in peace with no regrets. If you need anymore help, please do not hesitate to contact me on youtube as I check my account daily.

What does it feel like to be intubated with a breathing tube in your mouth ?

tyson mccormack Your throat is dry ....when the tube comes out your throat is scratchy and voice is hoarse.
@katybrennan8222

tyson mccormack I was in coma when I was intubated, then I had a tracheostomy. It wasn't bad, except for the feeding tube in my nose. Dry mouth was a problem, tho. When you are on a ventilator, you can't eat or drink anything for it may go down the wrong way and you can't cough. I found the ventilator to be quite soothing with the noise it made.

What does it feel like to be intubated ? With a breathing tube in your mouth
@RobbieRSA
@RobbieRSA 7 лет назад
tyson mccormack not pleasant. Can't drink anything. Can't close your mouth. Can't really move your head. I had multiple serious injuries so I was in an induced coma for 2 weeks and conscious, but continued on morphine and dormicum for a week before extubation. I had a broken jaw, which they couldn't set while incubated, so that was sore too. And because of all the drugs and major concussion, I was very confused, so they had to tie my hands to the bed rails so I didn't reach up and try to pull the tube myself. Then when it came time to extubate, I was expecting a little tube to pull out of my throat. Instead this 2 foot bloody hosepipe was pulled from all the way down in my chest. Worst experience of my life.

I just had a knee scope done this past friday. I had a femoral nerve block performed at shadyside. I am up and moving again post block. I have had to use 0 narcotics for pain after this procedure thanks to the regional nerve block. This was a bit to deal with at first(the numbness and deadness of the leg), but for the results it brings, ill do it again in a heartbeat. It wasnt done at the VA, but I still wanted to post my comment here to let people know that this regional anesthesia procedures are really really spectacular. Good work Dr. Williams!
