Convinced me. Just grabbed the second to last dark stonewash. I can’t believe these aren’t gone, can’t believe how under the radar they were. I live and breath knife content and have never seen this. Thanks for the video.
One drawback for me on the manix LW is the lock mechanism is very stiff. This causes me to use the wire pocket clip under my fingers (3rd, 4th and 5th fingers) to get leverage to pull back the lock mechanism. I’ve put so much force on the pocket clip I ended up tweaking it just a bit in the first 2 weeks I had the knife. Now the pocket clip is not tight against the scales of the handle, making it somewhat loose in the pocket. Also, it can’t be removed to be bent back into position. This alone makes me wish I had gotten the G10 version instead.
Hello I got mine a week ago. My one isn't smooth at all and the spring is very hard to pull down. Any tips on how to improve it? I've oiled it and have been trying to break it in but it's still the same. Thank you.
The Eklipse is my favorite Hinderer model. I don't even know how many Hinderer knives I have probably around 20 and I must have 6 to 8 Eklipse. I just bought another one when the new hollow ground slicers came out I got one in working finish with the natural g10. I do have a working finish horsehead scale I haven't installed on anything I might put on it. I actually have another scale coming now Monkey Edge had MEFP ti xm18 scales so I have a working finish one of those coming tomorrow to put on something maybe my working finish bowie. The Eklipse though I have the bowie, MEFP 3v warncliffe, I have the exclusive studs only from E Knives, the hollow slicer, spearpoint, I have another one that is similar to that can't think of what Hinderer calls them but its Magnacut I got from DLT a year or 2 ago think I have some others just can't think of it I have one of the 3 inch too think those were only ever made in the harpoon spanto. I only have 1 xm24 the bowie and I have 1 of the one with the thumb disc my brain isn't working so I can't think of what that model is either now but I really like those as well. I have one of the xm18 autos really want the auto Eklipse. I have a slicer, and warncliffe 3 inch, the 3.5 I have one of the DLT m390 warncliffes, bowie, spanto, slicer. I have one Project X. Few fixed blades maybe some others. I have so damn many knives its hard to keep track of everything. Need to start selling some more stuff again. I have a few other titanium scales I still haven't installed too have one of the DLT exclusive scales, another horsehead, that MEFP and another horsehead, have one for my project x too just never installed any of them or the ti scales I bought for one of my AD20 had those scales probably 2 years just never installed them and I bought a bunch more AD20 and AD20s since I got them
@JesseLJohnson dude you have an awesome collection! And I absolutely agree that the Eklipse is LEGENDARY. I love the three Eklipses that I have and Carry. Beautiful knives. Thanks for your awesome comment brother, God bless
I didn't have too much trouble with my Manix in particular, but Spyderco drives me nuts. Some knives just go together easy and are drop shut with no blade play and others you have to endlessly adjust every screw on the knife hoping to hit this magic point where it closes easily and has no blade play. It not even just certain models, it's just particular to the knife. I have one PM2 that is just effortlessly perfect, and another that I can't get to have no blade play and nice action in spite of trying every damn tip and trick from every forum post made since the beginning of the Internet. Pretty sure it boils down to the tolerances between the various dimensions of the pivot barrel, the washers and the stop pin/spacer on those. Right combination, you are fine, otherwise you just don't get even pressure across the washer when you snug it down. Wish they would just go to bearings.
Holding mine watching this. I literally emailed Les to tell him it's the greatest folding knife ever made. Only things in my collection that even come close is an SPK and a Strider.
I'm pretty new to knives in this price range and recently purchased a XM-18 that has made me a Hinderer fan. I currently have an Eklipse on the way from Hinderer. I had looked at a bunch of reviews before I ordered but none were very recent, not that it makes a difference with this type knife. But it was good to stumble on a recent review and I really enjoyed it (except for the Shrek reference😁). It's fun to listen to someone who knows what they're talking about and obviously, feels passionate about the subject. Thanks!
Thanks a lot Fred! I'm glad you found the video informative. It's people like you who keep me wanting to pump out content. Thank you for the awesome feedback 💪🏻
@@dansatermo3185 I'm not no, in Cali. But we get taxed for it. Pretty sure if you're in Wisconsin then you won't get taxed since it's the same state as DLT
Nope! We get taxed because DLT is in Wisconsin and so are we. I’ve bought from them before. They’re awesome and excellent customer service but hate to be taxed (more). If you are in Cali then you can relate FOR SURE. Our sales tax is only 5% here.
Funny for an over hyped knife there sure is a lot of positive points made for this tank USA made knife. The black aluminum, black and satin blade model with partial serration is just gorgeous. I’m buying one despite the hating comments with no valid points to support the hate.
No the Spanish knife was a folding knife. Had an interesting ratchet style opening and locking system. So when you heard that sound, you knew something was going to get bloody. I am glad you did mention said Spanish Knife. I will be getting said XL Espada soon.
Awesome video man! I'd been wanting a shaman for awhile. I finally scored this exact model on Blade HQs "bargain bin" discounted page for $175 and im stoked with it
Seriously houge if ypu see this comment other companies need to learn from houge on how a blade should come outa the box perfect grind razor sharp outstanding outa the box orher companies need to take notes
This is turning into watches. If you want the most practical, efficient, and by far cost effective option, go for something relatively cheap. Look fkr tne Casio or the Seiko of knives. This is more like an IWC: great looks, average performance, and terrible cost effectiveness.
This is actually one of the most cost effective chunks of magnacut you can buy. Compare this to any other fixed blade in magnacut. Most are around $400 for a comparable knife.
Awesome review! I also have this exact knife and changed the scales to aluminum scales from Applied Weapons Tech. Went from a very good to a great knife. Thanks for sharing!
I ordered the cruecarta manix 2 xl!!! can't wait!!!... I hate when people are like this knife is too big and heavy when I carry a rajah 2 every day 😂 it's huge and not very appropriate to pull out all the time so I also carry my manix 2 or my griptilian with it😂
I just got one of these. I like the grippy scales. It has more grip than the spyderco g-10. What I don’t like is when opening the knife something feels weird in the lock up. It kinda feels like it’s not locked in very strong compared to other knives. The spring also feels lighter to me and a lighter detent vs a Benchmade bugout and 940. So it takes less force to open it. I don’t fully trust it yet since I’m afraid it’s going to fold on me. I’m not sure if that’s how they all feel but I need to see if I can get my hands on another to compare.
Man I love how sharp the gimping is on the non-lightweights steel liners. I think I’ll actually miss that whenever I decide to get a lightweight model lol.
Nice Video. The Les George you have is an awesome knife but you should really lookup what Mid-tech is. Factory made or shop made? Employee made or Builder/Maker made? Outsourced or In-house? Check it out and you will see what I mean. :)
