Can we use a hair dryer for heating your mould before pouring melted wax?

Tips: -Use BW 921 soy wax for pillar candles -Heat your boiling wax up to 185F then let it cool to 175F per instructions from manufacturer -Use PLY30 for medium sized candles and PLY24 for small candles (in general) -Let the candle cure for at least 24h for wax to solidify the best ( the more the merrier though)

Use this method only if your candles haven’t been used (lit before) to get a clean wax and reuse it for your next creations. If you use the candle that has been utilized before you risk a chance of contaminating your boiled wax with soot, thus your new pillars will have black flaky spots on them when they are all cured.

@@FlameFusions black smoke from candles is very bad for your health and your house walls. The soot can discolor textiles and leave black marks all over everything. Additionally if you’re breathing in candle smoke, the cilia in your throat has a hard time cleaning the black soot which can lead to respiratory issues. We love candles and the best way to extinguish a flame is by saturating the wick with the wax it melted. This can be done with a crotchet hook or anything that is flame resistant and long, dip the inflamed wick into the wax which puts out the fire with no smoke, and coats the wick with wax for the next lighting. Sorry this was long winded but 30+ years of candle burning experience here, had one of my entire houses and it’s hvac system ruined from candle smoke

@@applesocks89 thank you for such a detailed response. I agree with everything you said above, however this video was made for aesthetic purposes ( looks pretty cool seeing all this white smoke in contrast to grey walls 😃,well at least to me). Usually, however, when I hover a candle snuffer long enough over the wick it will extinguish the candle practically with no smoke. I did do it too fast on the video, but you get the idea : candle snuffers -> less soot-> better health

I don’t work with wax but could you use hot wax as a kinda of glue? That way if you break off small pieces during the de-molding process you can fix them

Would it be easier to cut the mold and tape it up every time? Might mean you need more clean up after though
@FlameFusions
@FlameFusions 9 месяцев назад
We tried doing it, but specifically with this mold it would leave a harsh line on the side of the elk. Otherwise a great idea!
