No, I think it's about 400, but I decided not to count until I've read enough that all my unread books can be in one place. At the moment I still have quite a lot at my parents' house. I also thought counting them would be a form of procrastination!
Congratulations on reaching 50 books and 10 months in!! That’s an amazing milestone 😊 the new rule sounds like a great idea too, I think I need to inspect my own reading trends to see if I need to make any adjustments hehe
Oh nooo so sorry to hear that you were so sick 🤒 glad you’re feeling better now. Looks like you had a great reading month and made some awesome progress 🎉❤
I never used to have so many! I grew up with just a couple of small shelves. But then I became a book blogger and got so many for free my collection exploded! I hope you enjoy them!
Youve got such a charming personality. Should I try a TBR Zero as well, even though I technically do not need it? 🤭 Ive got 55 books in my TBR not including next books in the series... I'm quite content with that but maybe 👀
Thank you! If it sounds fun to you, why not! It's totally up to each person whether they think they 'need' it or not. I've seen people do TBR Zero when they have less than 40 books, just because they liked the idea of having read everything.
I’m watching through this series of yours and am really enjoying it. I’m currently on a book buying ban and reading through my tbr so I love watching these type of videos. They are very motivating.
I agree! I've made a playlist of TBR Zero videos from lots of different people, some of them did the project years ago but it was still motivating. Thank you for watching, I hope you keep enjoying it! 🥰
Really enjoyed this style of reading update!!! So quick and to the point. Just am curious about what some of the books look like and which ones counted towards the challenge 😊
I’m loving watching your videos in this series!!! Such a fun personality and great inspiration for my own TBR zero project I started a few months ago. I need to stay on track and I think making videos is a great way to stay accountable 🙊
@@Maeve_Ever_Books a bit, but then I remember that they are books I want to read, and I will enjoy reading them. Also even small improvements are motivating, yesterday I rearranged my shelves and found I'd read and given away enough that there was space for me to put all the books I had on a stack on the floor on shelves! That's amazing, I can't remember the last time all my books were on shelves. I'm now looking forward to making enough space that I can repurpose one little shelf unit I have for craft supplies and get those off the floor, that's the next change I think I'll see.
@@JulianneBenford I love that!! That’s so true!! The books I have are all books I love or books I hope to love! Congrats on getting all your books on your shelves!! That’s such a great feeling! What kind of crafting do you do??
I cancelled my kobo and storytel subsriptions. It seemed like I was always reading but my tbr would not go down. Now I'm back on the right track. Ticking books of my reading list is so satisfying. And I'm enjoying it. I want to try to half the amount of the books I buy too. I need to believe I can actually do it and achieve a healthy tbr 😂. Saves me a lot of money too.
Hi I enjoyed this, I'm doing something similar of trying to get my tbr down this year. So far I'm doing a 1 in 1 out policy when I buy anything, except book club books and trying not to use the library except for audio. I'm curious as it sounds like some of your impressive 40 are audio/library, how many count towards your TBR zero goal / what number is your TBR at now compared to when you started?
So it's got a little complicated as part of my project is to listen to everything I want to listen to on the Audible Plus catalogue, but I'm not counting that - maybe I should! In terms of physical books, I've read 39 since I started the whole project, which is a lot less than I wanted to have read at this point! I'm trying out a rule change at the moment where I have to read one physical book for every audiobook or library ebook/NetGalley book, and it's going well. So I think when I do new rules at 50 books I'm going to make that one to force faster progress!
Also I didn't count my TBR when I started because I have so many books it would take hours and I thought that was just procrastination from actually reading! I'll count when I get it down to a manageable level!
Loved watching this! I'm trying to get my TBR to zero by Christmas day. I only have 10 books left to go now. It is feeling such a relief and I'm looking forward to having more freedom and spontaneity in my reading next year. Wishing you well in your TBR challenge!
This is great, I need this inspiration! I keep putting myself on book buying bans, but then I'll splurge and I use the library and shop secondhand a lot, so the piles keep growing. Can I ask have you done an unhaul before this challenge, so you're only reading those you actually want to?
As you'll see in other videos, the library is a huge obstacle for me! I haven't done an unhaul as such, because my taste sort of accumulates, I don't go off genres or topics and decide I don't want to read them anymore, I just add new topics to the list! But when going through my shelves I found a few specific books that I'd changed my mind about.
I want to read more but my bloody head is all over the place since lockdown and corona... and I just had a news article come in saying 2nd wave of corona will hit in October as we head into winter and the stress is literally killing me. Love your plant!! Busy trying to make a comeback on youtube and would so appreciate your support. Have a lovely Sunday Julianne.
I have had vertigo for the last couple of weeks and instead of reading I've been lying around mostly reading news or Twitter so I feel that stress! Switched to watching RU-vid yesterday which was much nicer. Will definitely check out your latest videos when I have my next rest break!
I love the rule of reading two physical books before you can request a book on NetGalley. Ebooks and arcs are the ones that sneak up on me. They are so easy to buy! But they definitely distract from the physical TBR. I’ve had a similar issue with Kindle Unlimited because it has that extra subscription factor. You’ve inspired me to rethink how I prioritize my reading.
It's so easy to get distracted from the physical TBR! I think ebooks make the 'new and shiny' factor worse as they are so easy to buy and there are so many deals. Glad to hear this got you thinking 🙂
