The channel is not just about Vlogging a fishing trip. It's about education (where and how to find fish), conservation and enjoying the outdoors. I'm a weekend warrior that loves to fish. I mainly fish in Murrells Inlet, SC but venture throughout North and South Carolina or anywhere the fish are biting. Saltwater is my passion, but I grew up bass fishing. So, from time to time, I will sprinkle in a few bass videos because I love it. Remember Conservation starts with you. Release a fish for someone else to enjoy. Come join DCO Nation. Thank you DCO Nation.
Sorry I missed the live show Chris. Had surgery today, so just got time to watch it. Good info👍 Want to add, the Matrix Shad is an excellent bait. I stumbled onto them couple years ago, they have an excellent YT channel for Louisiana fishing. I order Bags of 50, and the big bag of jig heads as they work well too. I fished the high tide yesterday, and at dead high, and just starting to turn the bait started pouring out, and I could hear the fish plopping in the grass, but even with my skiff can’t get far enough in! 4 short trout, and suntan is all I caught🤣
10 year Horry County Teacher/Coach here. Thank you for all you do for student athletes! Living in VA now, happily back in the inlet this Thursday. I have been unable t find a sit on fishing kayak rental. I always wind up with a sit in across Drunken Jacks. I wish I could bring mine down. Any local tips?
Sorry to say you’re pretty limited on kayak rentals. I don’t think there is anyone renting fishing kayaks. You may want to check with Blackwater kayaks they may have one. Tips… I’ve been having success with paddle rails and a Vudu shrimp for flounder. Right now the flounder bite is really good. Good luck and enjoy your time in the Inlet. 🤙
Are there fish in the Inlet all year long? Like winter time? thought fish moved into deeper waters when water gets to hot? I just moved to SC still learning
Fish stay here year round. The bigger female flounder will migrate offshore for spawn and the bigger bulls reds will do the same. Fishing Year round in the inlet. Some seasons are better than other but you can always catch fish
What would you say is the best launch site to get over to “Shell Island” (North Island) by Huntington State Park? And during what tide would be an easiest paddle-high tide?
The oyster recycling center would be the best launch. The perfect tide would be the last few hours of the out going tide and the first few hours of the incoming tide that way the tide is helping you get there and come back you will not be fighting the current.
You aren't lying. Inlet has been wild this summer. Broke my PB flounder back 2 back fish on Tuesday. 23" then 23.5" practically in the same spot. Gotta love it. Keep it up, DCO!!
Chris. First I LOVE your videos but I have a questions. Do you guys have to deal with “ noseeums” or sand gnats like we do in the marshes of south Alabama??
YES WE DO!!! They get horrible in the summer. I use a thremacell to hold them off. It works well. That way I don’t have any bug spray on my hands when I’m handling my bait and lures.
Chris, really enjoy watching your videos. I am new to the Murrells Inlet, so I'm not familiar with the area yet. I fish from a 18' Pontoon Boat, so I know I can't go to all of the places you fish, but could you give us some idea of the area you are fishing? It would be a big help to us new guys.
Thanks Stephen it really not about specific spots. It figuring out the pattern for the day. Start by looking for bait fish, shore birds feeding and structure like oyster bars docks or deeper holes. The more combinations you can put together in one spot then fish should be there. 👍
Nice! Ive caught a few nice flounder from the bridges over the creeks in the last month. I just bought a few Perception Pescador Pilots in a bundle, going to sell 2 and keep the one to use. Ive enjoyed watching you fish the inlets, and wanted to give it a try myself. A buddy and I are going out a couple of the mornings over the weekend, looks like low tide is at 7:45. Is the fishing ever good on the dead low tide coming in? Ive noticed most of your videos seem to be high tide going out. We have our Jelly Baits ready to give a try too!
@@DeadCalmOutdoors Great to hear! Any recommendations of best places to sell the extra two Pescador Pilots locally, Facebook seem to be the place most people buy/sell kayaks or Craiglist or elsewhere?
Brother, I went Thursday in had the ruffist trip of my life! First truck broke down, rat had a nest in the air box lucky it wasn't bad but a tiny lil piece of paper got on the M.A.F sensor.I blow it out truck starts I take off only to discover I slung a wheel weight on the front tire. So I stop and change it problem solved. Get there and there was an American Golden Eagle at the boat ramp! In my awl I forgot my plug! Tie the boat up just to discover the bunks came losse and tried to float away... Not thinking anything more about the boat I recover my bunk boards and head for the parking lot, only to have the trailer fender fall off crossing the road😮😮 So I park and take a min to fix things. The ramp wasnt busy, so why not now so I can be ready to leave. Walk back to discover? Yep, you guessed it a boat full of water! So I jumped in and the boat Immediately dropped to the last few mm from the top. I slap the plug in o.m.g. crisis averted! BUT you guessed it nothing to bail water with but a little ice cream cup😢 so I get to it and get to it I do! In less than 15 mins I had bailed nearly 300 gallons and we are floating! Yes! Fire up my little 9.9-15 evinrude and let her start warming up, and I can take off and pull the plug and let gravity suck the water out. Good idea! But yep you guessed it ! I see a wire hang under the console pay it not much attention and I keep dipping water while the motor warms up, that's when I accidentally tuched the wire and got a shock that throwed me out of the boat! Being soaked in salt water sitting in an aluminum boat and touching and lead wire from the coil for the kill switch is a bad idea 💡 I don't care I get back in the boat kill the motor fix the wire and go fishing. Get on my spot hook the trolling motor up and my brand new battery burns up the motor in 2 secs! Now I'm drifting with no power. So I drop anchor before I run aground. Spot looks good, you would definitely fish there. I cast a line and the wind gets it. Grass 1 Bait 0. This or similar casting incidents happen got probly 7 good cast and then broke my favorite rod. I fired the lil 9.9-15 evinrude up and took off! I didn't slow do until I seen my driveway!
@DeadCalmOutdoors I don't either all I know is the more I have my ducks in a row before going the worse things get, if I had up and decided to go in a garden tub every thing would of been great and I would of limited out on 50 different fish verities.
