Welcome to our channel! We're Amanda Cavacas and Jason St. Jacques, a couple based in Toronto! Like many, Covid has hit us hard and 2020 was shaping up to be a year of missed opportunities, however we decided to turn things around ourselves and purchase our new tiny home on wheels and start #Vanlife!! We will be sharing every step of our sure to be chaotic vanbuild in a crazy Canadian winter, and we can't wait!
Our goal is to document the good times and the bad during our build and give back to the community that we have learned so much from! We hope that we can inspire others, just as we have been inspired to take this step. SUBSCRIBE to follow along and can't wait to see you on the road!
I had no interest in doing a partition wall but you may have change my mind. Great job guys Downside of course is no swivel seats and my friend that travels with me likes to recline her seat and nap when on long drives. Going to give it serious thought.
Hey, love this door. Just had a few questions. What type/thickness of plywood did you use ? And saw you put some framing where you put the insulation, what did you use there? And last, how did you guys secure the whole partition to the van? Thanks!
You guys inspired me to build something similar! Friends of mine got all their personal stuff stolen in theirs. So i will go all out for security in my van.
Hi Seth! We used a polyester fabric we ordered from wayfair. Here's the link if you're interested :) www.wayfair.ca/storage-organization/pdp/abbeyshea-hadley-fabric-hyeb3675.html
yes! so glad to see someone else use this technique. I've been a fan of bauwerk & limestrong (basically any lime washing companies) for years & toyed with the idea of doing it in our build but was worried about how it would handle the road vibrations. Have you found any cracking?
Thanks guys! We love it and it’s been pretty durable thus far! We are just worried how it’ll hold up in the kitchen area! But so far so good with road vibrations ☺️
watching this getting super pumped to head out this way in a few weeks! Love all the footage have never done the hikes in Jasper it was always the dead of winter when we've been there so way to much snow to get deep into the mountains!
Just a heads up, you will need flexible filler between your panels for expansion and contraction to accomodate movement on the road and moisture and temperature fluxuations. I too am going to do a tiny house build!
hey great video! your van is coming along really nicely😄 Awesome job with the walls! We love the arched cutouts you did 👍 Also great name choice! Take care, H&J ✌️

Just wondering if you considered installing swivel seats up front? It adds so much room to the living space. Especially for company. Keep up the great work.
Hey Bob! Yes we did chat about this quite a bit! We opted for building our partition to keep the living space separate! We’re going to have plenty of space for company so we were ok with kissing the extra space that the swivel seats would provide! Thank you for the kind words 😊
So this is my first time on your channel. You guys are doing great building the van. Your drone flying technique is great with lot of great shots. As you know there is a lot of content on RU-vid about van life with couple and single people. So the field is really getting crowded. Bring some uniqueness to your channel to get more subscribers. Get your self a good sponsor Just a thought.
Hey Al, thanks for your support and checking us out! Yes love the feedback and we love all the amazing content out there and there are many talented and fun vanlifers! Our goal is to be ourselves and document our journey for us and to inspire people to do the same! All the best and if you know any good sponsors send em our way 😉
@@mandajase1658 Yes, the drone shots are beautifully done. Can I ask what drone you are using? I'm just starting Vanlife in western Canada and will retire soon. I'd love some shots of my van travel some back roads in the mountains. I've subscribed!
The floor looks great and we are intrigued by your floor heat. We've heard people talk about it but have never seen it done! What's the product you used?
Man, bless you guys for posting this within days of when I needed to see a tutorial! Lol I just found you. Definitely earned a subscriber. I’m waiting for my sprinter to arrive and plan to do this exact partition design. Trying to plan it all out. Could you possibly tell me the dimensions of the walls and door?!
Oh my goodness thanks so much Allyson! 🥰 perfect timing! We used 1/2 inch ply for the walls and 3/8” for the door! The doorway itself is 19” x 5’. Message us on Instagram (@mandaandjase) and we’re happy to share more details if needed 😀
