Great Video Thank You! But not the Vinelander that i remember!! At the very least the Loco N Class in this case or any other Loco used if any??? And the carriage's should be painted in the original Vinelander silver tangerine/orange livery 👍👍❤️❤️🙂
I was on the train with a couple of mates. It was a great trip out to Murrayville and back. As well as Southern Cross to Mildura via Ararat, Avoca and Maryborough. So 5 days rail travel all up. Sadly we didn't have much time at Murrayville to get out and have a good look around for varying reasons. Yes the line speed from Ouyen to Murrayville is 40km/hr there and back, we on the train were told.
@@rons4778 it really depends on the line, this line 40kmph, Mildura - Maryborough, around 80kmph and Maryborough to Ararat around 60kmph I think and Ararat to Melbourne around 115kmph
@@adrianpalladino3388 Yeah it certainly wasn’t a fast trip, according to V/Line the max speed is between 30 and 40 kmph depending on track section, certainly a slow trip !
I recall Tait Red Rattlers on the lines up until I was about 18 or 19. These trains normally had 7 or 8 carriages. Are there more carriages being restored so that we have a full complement of a Tait set?
@@Melbournelost66 I’m not 100% sure but I think some more carriages might be restored, and I know there’s a parcel van carriage that will likely be restored at some point as well.
Great video. But the engine throughout the video sounds like she was laboring. It sounded like taking in short breaths and breathing out. As an American, I have heard this on the old Southern Pacific Cab forwards. Thanks!
Enjoyable video, Tessa! Great to meet you on Tuesday and it was a pleasure to crew both of those trains too! As I said to you on Tuesday, at the station, what a small world we live in lol 😆. Hope you enjoyed your trip to our beautiful Flinders Ranges, welcome back anytime. Keep well. Regards, Caleb Oh and I subbed too!
excellent video!! looks like youre the only one who chased it all the way to Mildura.. only one thing to say sorry but those carriages AND the N need to be repainted in the tangerine V line scheme because that grey is HIDEOUS
These old VR locos, back in the 70' as I recall when they were in regular sevice, so often we were rostered on a pass oneway ie. Spencer Street to Bendigo return with the goods back to Melb. Yard and Sth Dynon depot to complete our shift! VR got every cent back for them, how many traction motors/ main gen etc or any other items must have been replaced on these old locos and still back on main line operation?
Push pull N sets?! I thought only the poor men’s XPT had this!!! Aka H set with two P or T loco each end!!! I like it but need more carriages!!! Oh so that where VN14 went!!!
@@tstrains711 well it’s seem they just did one!!! This set up seems better than vols replacing them loco hauls!!! I don’t think people will like being exposed 83- 90 decibels of constant noise for 3-4 hrs one way in vols as in the N car was 65-75 decibels in those carriages whist in motion as I measured it on my decibel meter! In vols drivers cab heavily insulated knocks off 40 decibels instead them considering driver sit in there for hours on whist drive em!
I’m hoping those tracks go on the Portland line considering the condition of the track and the fact that trains can only go at around 40km/hr is a disgrace
Yes that would have been a good idea though ARTC wouldn't do it as the line is very rarely used so they would see it as not financially viable which is very unfortunate
What a disgrace,Portland harbour Victoria's only natural deep water port and close to the grain producing regions has a railway in this condition, neglected and underused😟
Unfortunately not, unless you have insider info, though there is a facebook group called Train Tracker Victoria, one for SA, NSW etc which can let you know when they happen.
Yo, any idea when its crossing the border and going into Bordertown etc.? If you know at some point, please let me know if possible, would like to see it
Southern Cross Railway Station it is the main station for Inter City and Interstate trains, Flinders Steer is the Main Station for Suburban trains. Sone other great places to train spot ( Accessible by train are ) The North Melbourne Flyover, from north Melbourne Station about 2 minutes walk, Middle Footscray Station, you get NSW/QLD freights and Adelaide/Perth freighters
