Been looking for an opem face for then i pick up my bobber soon, im between this dmd or the bell, the bell has been out for years not sure if its veen updated tho tbh, i hate buyimg old tech lol. Nice review tho mate
Just bought one of these to replace my old skool bandit based on this review. Appreciate the detail bro 👌🏽 you’re dead right about the narrow aperture and lack of peripheral vision on the older American bandits…it’s a real problem for shoulder checks as you have to really crane your neck around to see your blind spots 😂 figured it was time I got a fully approved and legal lid, but didn’t want to sacrifice the very cool aesthetic of a Simpson helmet 👍🏼 and stickers (and Dickies) are life 100% 😂👌🏽
Great review man, thinking of getting a DMD Vintage to replace my Bell Custom 500, which hurts my head - and thanks for whopping them on your bonce too! A definite first!
Thanks, I work on my bike myself. FAMILY is everything, glad to hear when vid's include them. I noticed a large improvement when I added the heavy breather on my. Twin 96B. My K&N air filter oil kit.
Thank you so much for having the same size head at 61cm as myself. Have wanted an XL open face for ages but every one I've tried on makes me look like a "bobblehead". Suffice to say I've not tried a DMD Vintage as have not seen the brand locally. Based on the fact that you actually modelled the helmet (heresy!) I will now order one in XL from urban rider as soon as I decide on the colour.
Could you please help me with the sizing? What size should I get if my head circumference is 56.5 cm? ... According to the size chart, I should order a size M, but some Simpson Venom Helmet reviews suggest ordering a size down.
How is this helmet in the rain or cold weather? Is it a good winter choice for the UK? I commute about 10-15 min every morning at 6am and I'm looking for a full face helmet for this winter.
It's pretty reasonable for the winter considering that's the main month's I actually use the helmet, with the pinlock inserted I think you will be pretty happy, plus the comfort of the helmet is Great.
Enjoy the King! Getting ready to open up my wife's 88" Deluxe to check on the tensioners. 17000 miles on it, so high time to have a look see. Ride Forever!
Bruce, you must have broken some kind of helmet review rule, because don't you know that you have to go on endlessly about the helmet ...yet NEVER EVER put it on? Hahaha. Good job! I actually bought one directly from Italy in the Carbon/Handmade (supposedly) line, and I must tell you, I am a bit disappointed in it because I still look like a Gazoo more or less. Also, and to that very point, I was real annoyed to find out that the advertised bunch of shell sizes (on their own Italian website) is UNTRUE and completely misleading if not to say actually FALSE; here's the story - I bought one for a buddy, too, and his was a size larger, AND, thus should have been a larger outer-shell class, but nope, same EXACT shell size. Then, when you press Italy on this fact, they give you a song and dance, basically arguing that in their world 1+1=3. So, after spending almost nine hundred US dollars on two helmets to find out that the multi-shell deal is bogus, well, VERY disappointing to say the least. The positives being that they seem very well made and are quite comfortable and super light (Carbon/Kevlar in the "Hand Made" line), so there's that. And, if a fellow is looking for a super low profile DOT/CEC helmet, I suppose these are one of the best and lowest profile if you want to throw an almost obscene amount of money at the "problem" of aiming at a look and feel this side of flying to Mars. From southern California to you - Ride Forever!
Wow man we really take for granted how easy some things are to get hold of, a DMD vintage to me is about £100 which is probably about $120 it's a shame someone isn't importing loads of them into the US. Shame to hear about the shell size issue, but glad you like the helmet overall. Ride safe ⚡🤘🏾
@@brucepantheradventures4989 Well, note that I wrote 'Handmade,' not the regular 'Vintage' - huge price difference of over double the costs. Today the least expensive Vintage is E195 compared to E450 for the Vintage style 'Handmade' version.' Also, sure, the shipping costs to the States makes it even more costly, but the least priced Handmade (Carbon/Kevlar/made in Italy) 3/4 model is very expensive to start with. But again, the point I was making is that they clearly show three tiers of shells on their very own site whereas in actuality they only come in two shells where the size difference is made up by sizing the EPS liner.
@@brucepantheradventures4989 Cool thanks. I just followed my gut feel and ordered in my standard size L and cheekily ignored Adrianna's recommendation from DMD customer service team, to go up a size. ;). Perfect fit. Note: DMD changed outer shell design in recent months so now there are 3 shell sizes instead of previously only 2. The finish has also been updated, the shield studs are now black steel and there is an additional rivet towards the back of the helmet, quite unusual as I haven't seen this with any other classic open face helmet. The internal padding has also been "beautied up". Most importantly they are still been made in Italy, a huge plus in my books.
@@drazenbabich Only the "Handmade" line is made in Italy, the regular are Asian/Chinese. They told me so. Also, due to past bad experience with their dancing around the thing with shells, I simply do NOT believe that they now indeed use three shell sizes. The story I got myself over two years ago was that they use three shell sizes - NOT TRUE! The website looked exactly the same in this regard, too, when I bought two "Handmade" line helmets in two different sizes where they should have been different as far as outside measurements as well. But nope, IDENTICAL outside measurements having two different size categories physically right in front of you and measuring super precisely on a professional measuring bench. Any which way you run your calipers there is NO difference between an S and an M although they are supposed to be in different shell categories. Then you both email and call Italy and the gal gives you some nonsense about how they use two shell sizes but three ESP's, and so you counter with the fact that that is NOT what their own website states, yet no one, and I mean NO ONE admits fault. Maybe it's some Italian "Furbo" deal. Google it. Super disappointing considering they charge a huuuge premium for the product and advertise three shells to boot. Bottom line? Not happy at the end of the day and would NOT have spent the money...
@@brucepantheradventures4989 Bingo! Yet as I brought up in my comment above, their website clearly shows three separate shell-sizes under "sizing" (certainly in the Handmade line section) which is exactly why I paid the insane money for one. Yet they only use two shell-sizes no matter what. Then, when you bring it to their attention over email as well as on the phone from across the pond in California, you get a Royal runaround to where NO ONE crawls to the cross admitting that they only use two shells. Unbelievable. What's even more unbelievable is the fact that now, almost two years since the purchase, they STILL have not changed their website to reflect the truth that they only work with two shell-sizes across all sizes from XS to Giant, but instead show three separate and distinct shell sizes divided over the whole range. Fascinating how some companies do business.
Yeah I'm asking this same question, I saw on there xhart that they have 2 shell sizes. But urban rider will say two. So I'm very confused. Waiting for reply via email
Great Helmet review, started looking at these on line and found them at Urban Rider, will be popping down to them on Saturday to try and hopefully buy one. Keep the videos coming. 👍🏻
Thanks, great video. I tried a Simpson Darksome size large. It was a nice fit side to side, but forward and back I could take it off with the chin strap as tight as possible. My head is 23 inch, 58.42 cm which puts me at a large apparently. I will try this venom in medium. If too tight I'll have to try a different brand. Possibly the Bell SRT modular.
I've not got any experience with the darksome, I hope you get on well with the venom. Let me know how you find it, thanks for watching the video mate ⚡🤙🏾
Hey brother could you send me an email or something to where I can look at the vintage motorcycle helmets I'm not to text Abby but I appreciate your straightforward approach have a blessed day🛐🗿
regarding the interior visor, you have the option to change that out too. if you want the dark outer visor, you can swap the dark interior visor with a clear one
Try and make sure whoever you buy from a company that accepts return's, I'd probably go for the larger as there is nothing worse than a helmet that's too tight.
@@esr243 I have not heard of being able to change the cheek pads out, they come out easily but I'd just aim to order the closest helmet for your head size. I always order my gear online, just make sure the company offers returns on helmet's.
Cheers for the shout out brother. Great vlog! Mate terminator 2 absolutely sold Harley Davidson to me! And who doesn’t love biker mice from Mars 🤣🤣🤣👌🏾 legend!
