Hello all. I play Super Smash Bros. Melee competitively! I am a box controller user (used SmashBox and B0XX). You can expect to find vods from my stream: Twitch.tv/galenthewise
I upload mainly Melee but other games can be found here such as: Dustforce, trying to do playthroughs of spooky games (here and there), SoulCalibur, and Under Night In Birth (once Hitbox Crossup comes out).

Just flip that on and when you go in there to practice, it'll show ya' the angle. I'd say maybe have 2 UnclePunch versions in your Dolphin because 2.0 is obviously outdated and missin' some stuff.
Nah. I only made this for spacies. Not like I couldn't, but I just don't really have the motivation to make more videos like this if I'm being honest. There's a chance sometime in the future but slim odds fs. I'm sorry :T
You can't really do the Galen method anymore with neutral SOCD. I mean you sort of can but the distance goes nowhere so.. yeah. You can only do a regular moonwalk (walk one direction then dash another while doing a half circle input)
@selv_ You can only do a moonwalk by walking a direction then dashing the opposite direction then doing a half circle in the opposite direction from your dash. Also, that's slower than WD back moonwalk for your info lol. You can WD whenever. Having to setup a walk first then having to dash in the opposite direction is slower my a margin
The y modifier c stick buttons going clockwise to make your angle go counter clockwise up from the lowest Firefox angle is not intuitive to me, they should both be clockwise
Yeah you can reliably empty pivot. There are 3 methods: Left → right → release right on the next frame. Left → right → press mod x or y on the next frame. Left → right → down right on the next frame. For the record I use the last method. Hax uses method 1 because he's insane lmao
Very essential tech, not sure why it isn't more well known lol. My friend called it a -Perfect Waveland-, and I think that colloquialism might be known by many others as well, but 0 Degree Waveland is a more direct term, so I'll use both in my dictionary of smash tech whether I publish it or not. And yes, I'm trying to document every last tech in this game, and I think it would include literally everything you could possibly think of, but I'm not sure where to publish it 🤔. Maybe a Melee wiki idk. Btw, you absolutely have to try it with Mewtwo, his goes half the stage ;). I got a clip doing that into grab, it's absolutely bonkers >>>>
O shit that's a miiiighty task you've taken on. I admire your dedication to something so grand and I hope you find success (: Uhhhh.. there are probably a few places you could post it. More than likely social media would be the best bet at first. Twitter, Reddit, Smashboards (not sure how active that site is anymore but worth a shot) Yeah, I've tried it with everyone. It's a pretty cool little tool and I'm sure other characters who aren't spacies get many more options because of it. Glad you enjoyed the find and I wish you luck with your documentation. @@eric_ssbm_28 If you have the most updated version of UnclePunch I think it's in the general options when you're in the 1st event mode. I'm at G9 so I can't really check myself until Monday. But if you still can't find it, I'll figure it out
Ayo. I figured it out. Turns out, in the most recent update, they disabled the "spacie tech" OSD which is what the angle visualizer is. You gotta have an older version of UnclePunch to use that.

I'm bad enough that if I tried to enjoy Melee because I was winning I'd never have play it again. I'm just trying to learn to waveland and if I hit one in a combo I'm popping off.

I think it's only available for usage via UnclePunch. I'd recommend the more updated version that's available in his patreon. You'll get a looot of training options (:
What do you mean by "b0xx inputs"? You mean the input viewer? If that's what you mean, I'm using OtaK's one in the B0XX discord which I think is in the "bot command spam" channel. Also there's the official one you can use too
@@garrettpeterson3324 I know you can hold modY on plugin which puts it in keyboard mode. After that it should be a simple setup via the in game settings config for Multiversus. I tried using my B0XX for Multiversus and got it to work in keyboard mode which required me setting up the buttons I wanted where in the game but that's it. Wasn't exactly optimal either.
So I know you are very good at both species but I was wondering when you were initially focusing on getting better when you weren't nearly as cracked as you are now, which spacie did you play and why? (Or did you do both basically the whole time) Both of my spacies are at a similar level but I'm not sure which I should focus on getting better with because I know it will hinder my improvement if I spit my time between two characters. Any advice would be appreciated because I don't have a strong preference toward one or the other. Edit: I picked up fox after starting with Falco but that definitely doesn't make it worse
I definitely started with Falco and focused on him for like just under two years. Maybe two years max. Then did the same thing for Fox. Think Fox was def under 2 years. After a bit I started realising one of my biggest problems was the jump squat frames between the two of them and that switching was really difficult - kept missing WD inputs. But I think you should focus on who you enjoy playing more if that's something you can clearly identify. If not, focus on the character with the most consistency. Nothing wrong with putting the other spacie on the bench for a bit. Been trying to get my Falco to where my Fox is in regards of consistency and results.
@@GalenTheWise my Falco has a higher skill floor because I've been playing him longer so he's more consistent but it feels like my fox has a higher skill ceiling when I'm really feeling it
@@ColemakDH Yeah at that point I would just go with whoever you have more fun playing. It's definitely a tough choice fs. No wrong choice though. If you end up playing both you'll need to put a lot of time in either way
Missed you again! Falco waveshine: do you use Y or X? How about for shine waveland? Not sure if it is a preference thing or if there is specific way it is normally done.

@@GalenTheWise I'm in class for around 12 hours a day, but know that you're my very first reference when I don't quite understand something (like how to drift or what angle of wavedash go practice most). :)

@@GalenTheWise specific percent driven approaches to neutral game using scenario examples and creating If (x-percent) then (y-attack) processes for fox/falco versus every character, one by one, including mixups. Although honestly I don’t care too much. I’m free Friday if you are?
