Welcome to Locust Motorworks where we create farming and tractor HISTORY videos! We started off in 2016 just posting simple day to day farming videos and have grown since. My personal favorite is John Deere 2-Cylinders tractors and the New Generation line up. Located in Nebraska. Contact me if you have any questions or comments and have a wonderful day.
Great grandpa had 3 7720 combines for rice. According to grandpa they would eat and not need a break unless they were stuck. Before that they ran 3 105r combines
Thanks for the history lesson. My dad had a 105 then a 730 . I just drug out from 22 years in storage,a 1958 model 30 . It seems to be a bit of a misfit considering what was available by then. It had hardly been used as the knife, rub bars and sprockets show no wear.
Fun fact , a special 4240 tractor built in the German plant , would feature a mechanical front wheel drive labeled the John Deere 4240s, the model was pretty much only seen in the European market .
From a service standpoint, the 4020 was the best tractor ever built. From an operator's standpoint, the 4020 was the best tractor ever built. I've operated and worked on a variety of tractors over the years, and I still maintain that opinion...
No matter the Tractor model Deere just couldn’t get the two Cylinder concept out of Their Engineering Minds. Even when They purchased a motor from an outside Manufacturer ( Hercules ), it had to be two cylinder. Fergieman
John Deere fire Americans works move to Mexico hire Mexican workers and sell back to Americans give them the bud light treatment but this is what happens when you trade your company on the stock market
Great information! I’ve got two 1950 MT both in original and running condition. Currently restoring one for show use. If you ever visit the heartland, stop by the American thresherman association show in Pincknyville Illinois and get some hands on time with one! It’s the third weekend in august every year.
I’ve got 4 110s (only 1 runs, 1 I’m restoring and two for parts), two 70s, a little single blade model 68, and a rare electric 90 with an aluminum deck that’s probably worth more the. The entire thing. They into made about 3000 of them from 1972 to 1974 and they’re rare cause theirs not a many of them left. Un-restored units have sold for more then $7000. Could you imagine what a restored unit would go for.
1963 was only year of the 7hp. 3 speed trans was 63-64 with 3 bolt. 8hp 64-67 for 110. 110 was deeres first garden tractor. Model 60 was first lawn tractor they made in 66
A great video. My dad bought a new propane 720 in 1956 that was our big tractor until 1964. We bought the neighbors 70 diesel. I had the front wheel pedistal breakoff and roll under the tractor while pulling an anhyrous applicator. I cut the engine, jerked the rope on the applicator and ran like heck as the cloud of gas folowed me. Today I own a 1955 JD70 parade ready.
@@LocustMotorWorks no, just a couple of carburetor clean outs. I’ve never really used it for much so it doesn’t really get any wear on it. The saddest thing was one of the front tires blew out on me shortly after I got it so now I have three original tires and one replacement. It’s the same tire that was used on doodle bugs and is impossible to find. I guess that all happened before the google machine so maybe I need to try again.
