The Hagerty Drivers Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit launched in 2021 by Hagerty. I’d love to see one race a year where they do this. All the drivers have to drive a no-kidding stock car from their manufacturer. Make it shorter to compensate for the lower speed.

Full story is that car manufacturers thought it would be too expensive to maintain and would need a special mechanic to even work on them. Also they did not like the idea of a vehicle that ignored need for gasoline which would have hurt the oil industries in all forms.

I am glad that Jay Leno bought one of these to preserve it for automotive history. Truly unique automobile and a car that was built far ahead of its time.
The irony of their solution is that cops most *definitely* put those parts in their squadies. What makes it ironic is stock car racing was literally born out of rum running & bootlegging.
