As a huge fan of Kara, I see exactly what director Greg Collins chose to illustrate here. Allow me to share with you what I have to offer. It's called the concept of catharsis artistically illustrated through a form of entertainment. In life, young people are often prone to fall victim to temptation. It was all make it or break it time for Kara. The immortal girl with unlimited potential who was permanently stuck at the childishly young age had to take herself out of the equation. Because regardless of all of her positive accomplishments up until this point, Kara had been on a very bad troubling trajectory in her life recently, as shapeshifter Kali had given us a glimpse of how Kara had been growing more and more power hungry, as shown during her demonstrative spotlight in a span of three episodes. Kara always was the most flawed among the original members of the team of defenders. Kara always enjoyed being so dominant, often lacking the quality of being humble and reserved, and behaving not so very careful. She was falling victim to temptation again. It was now or never. With Erik revealing to us through his nightmare in monstrous fashion of the disturbing truth of Kara's childhood past of how she already did fall huge victim to temptation by maiming herself with her brother's arsenal and losing the ability to walk, it made all the sense in the world for her to seal the deal for herself. Her actions made the prediction from "Ms. Fortune" (S1E5), finally come true. Kara took herself to become out of reach as she remained close to Erik and the rest of the family forever. Kara could not afford to be a burden any longer for her brother, who had the destiny of saving Rados. Especially since he had recently obtained the knowledge regarding the greatest powers known to exist in the realm. The primordial sigils that are said to yield unbelievable power. Now Kara would have loved to get a taste of that power. But she knew that that would lead to her destroying Rados, through her actions of not being careful. She had to officially make the biggest switch of her life if she was to support her brother. She had to become completely careful. She stayed away from becoming the glorified planetary buttkicker and instead became the certified big brother protector. After this episode, Kara made the transition into becoming Erik's new very own personal close guardian. This was something that had always been hinted at in the season two opening of this show. And in the last two episodes of this show, Kara was physically seen, literally being worn by Erik. She shapeshifted into his brand new fancy green clothing, so Kara could protect Erik as he fulfilled his duties to Rados. As shown in the conclusion, they all together finally defeated the Ethos and saved Rados. So with Kara having her new born passion of protecting Erik and keeping him alive and safe from harm so that she can play with him and only him forever for her permanent eternal happiness and personal pleasures while officially staying away from evil, this big brother and little sister relationship had become adjusted in the best possible way imaginable. Forgive me for writing so much and being so overbearing and seeming to be a person who is verging towards the edge of insanity. It's just that I have a certain level of integrity and that I had to say what needed to be said, with regards to this very beloved kids show made by smart adults.
