I dont want to say one is better than the other. The only death i felt comparable to this was Itachi's. Like the complete full plate of emotions that came to me when the smile that hit both of their faces just cant be explained in any other way without understanding the stories.
I remember I was crying like a baby at midnight when I watched this arc. Ace is one of my fav characters in one piece…it’s heartbreaking to see his last words to luffy “arigato”😢 Bon chan saved his tomodachi Luffy and sacrificed his freedom to help luffy escape impel down, Whitebeard and his crew sacrificed everything for his son Ace, Luffy sacrificed his lifespan for his brother…while Garp just did not want to sacrifice his job and pride for his grandson even though Ace said “I wanna live”….In my opinion , Garp just like parents choosing their job over their kids and families. I understand him, he was doing right as a marine hero but i don’t really like him, especially when he saved koby at all cost afterwards. I would say he is a good marine and hero but not a really good grandpa. I know Ace was meant to die but it’s just so fking sad… ”A hero would sacrifice you for the world. A villain would sacrifice the world for you.” 😔💔
It's really so sad that it ends like this. Even as I was typing these words, the screen was covered in water. Ace shouldn't have died. It's ridiculous, but unfortunately, all good things have an end.;(
Damn Oda really made a character for every age group to relate. As you get older, Garp gets relatable. What the hell can you even do when family are making mistakes and being idiotic rebellious children? It's hopeless, those were tears of despair, powerlessness. You idiot Ace. Garp is every family with an addict/delinquent/criminal: a witness to family killing themselves while your heart breaks apart.
