Side note for any OPR fans on the army creator online you can find several STL creators who made army lists of some of their projects and models they have :-) just made my army list of The Crimson Wings :-)
Great piece of advise. I love using the Army Forge to make lists. Even if I don't have the army yet, it's still nice to get a feel of what you can use.
@@Reaper0ll same I was making lists last night as well ha made a 3000k list for crimson wings and updated my Human defense force list. Havr a 2000 point list complete printed and painted just doing another 1k to add on later
Good choice. I'm still torn between doing red skin over the blue grey on this guy. I get like that sometimes, normally I will just print out a skirmish team and see how I like a full squad before deciding on adding another army to my pile of potential.
I just stumbled across the Shadow Stalkers by OPR and had originally thought they were just more interesting undead.. but they are (in the lore) more like transdimensional beings... so yeah.. although the colors look creepy, I don't know that it's enough to make them unique from the skaven/ratmen options that OPR (and GW and mantic too I guess) already have... but good video! Thanks for sharing!
That's what I'm thinking as well. I'm tempted to try out a different scheme that leans more into the trans dimensional side of them with some bright colours. Not just a bright pop colour, more like bright pink skin or something along those lines.
Thank you 😊. Yes that is 3d printed. Although the original files now have been lost to the depths of Thingiverse. They seem to have been replaced with lots of Red Grass Games handle clones now.
For the 2 Infinity models I have done they went together and painted up no different from normal resin models. I think a lot of the stigma around metal models comes from the older GW minis. They weren't as bad as people make out, but they did require more work to make them stay together. As long as you have super glue and a decent primer, you will be fine with them.
I really like your painting style and also the way you do your videos and thumbnails! Less "THE ONLY VIDEO YOU NEED TO SEE!" Click-Bait Nonsense and more actually realistic, good looking painting. Keep up!
Thank you 😊. That is the vibe I am going for. I understand why creators use the the whole click-bait titles. But I don't make any money from here so have no need to use those types of thumbnails or titles.
@@Reaper0ll And every video I watched speaks exactly this to me. The feeling I get when i watching you is that you doing mini painting & YT as your passion and not to pay your bills. You deserved a ko-fi and helping you ticking in paint. 😁 Do you have a actual ko-fi page? The link in your older videos did not work anymore.
The eventual goal for now is to just fund the hobby. I got rid of the Ko-Fi page a while ago. It's not a bad idea but it didn't feel like the right time to have one. I don't like the idea of having any of my content behind a paywall.
If I can dig out the STL I'll happily share it to you. It's pretty much just a 32mm base with circle attached to the top of it. For larger models however I have found it doesn't hold onto the painting handle too well.
I found a version of the STL I put together a while ago. You should be able to download it from the link below. www.tinkercad.com/things/30U3mzhbjJr-paint-handle-topper-50mm?sharecode=mF8HjVROBk_cQyFQwyXCz6BjMjlElBlJiE_N69fElVY
This Model has been archived by OPR and replaced with a less interesting sculpt in their bundles. If anyone would be willing to share this version with me somehow, I would be very grateful!
Thank you 😊. Oh yes, especially since just getting finished this far took just over 20 minutes. That is one of the main reasons I will be stopping the 20 minute limit when White Death turns up and I start that one.
No specific advise for painting up the Saurians. Just some general advice for any mini painting. 1 > Always do a test model before committing to a paint scheme for an entire army. 2 > It's only paint, so don't worry about mistakes. You can always paint over it.
Aight so watching your vids I'm starting to understand highlighting. Been using contrast paint over zenithal. When you do your highlights, do you go one or two tone lighter?
It's very situational. If I am trying to paint fast I will probably jump up a couple of tones at once and then use the wash to fix the gradient. For adding a highlight over contrast I would probably just do a single brighter highlight on the top parts. Or if you want a more gradual change then you can go a tone lighter for a mid tone layer and then jump up another tone for the highlight.
I've heard wood stains work really well for washes. I've used them as varnish before but never for a wash. That is a big thing with most washes and they all stain differently between brands. Army Painter washes so far seem to be best for not staining too much and still looking good in the recesses.
Thank you 😊. That was a black prime with just white ink, but I think the smoke black is chromatic blue black. Every time I use it there is an odd tint to it. It's almost like it has some purple in the mix.
