Racism, religion, sexuality, politics, sport, you name it....we live in a world that promotes sides because of exactly what's explained here. It's a trick to distract us. If we ever wake up and stop fighting and complaining about the small things, we can actually work to fix the real issues.
Knowingly using an equation that can diminish wages, over the course of a contract, by not accurately representing the actual or meaningful measures for the cost of living, is pitiful. Accentuated most these past two years by having the highest inflation rates in decades while standing by helpless as our buying power diminishes. As a union we can and should advocate better.
Meanwhile the cost of living going up over 6% a year, meanwhile wages only going up maybe .5% every other year at most. I'll never forget it; 4 tax assessments in 2020 - the last one going up $165,800 in property value. I come in next day and the Union celebrating a 1 cent COLA.
TL/DR for those that don't have 90 minutes to watch the full episode: 1. Boeing loses if it does nothing, so needs to do something 2. Boeing is able to do it, if they wanted to, but are in tough shape due to wasting a lot of $$ via mismanagement 3. Real gap is at Boeing leadership who is stuck in analysis paralysis (aka fear of failure) 4. Everyone is frustrated with current Boeing leadership, or lack thereof Result: Boeing's lack of vision and ability to execute starts at the executive level and won't change anytime soon, so don't hold your breath.
