If sewing has been on your mind lately but you weren't sure where to start - look no further than Sheer Stitchery! Now let's get stitching!
I would of been helped with you showing what stitch you used on the side seams using the Serger as well as on the gusset, I would have also been helped with seeing how you controlled the screeching of elastic and how wide your zigzag stich was and why you chose that with., I have so enjoyed so many of your tutorials of other things, were you a bit withdrawn because it was panties you were sewing?
The pattern may not have indicated stay stitching along edges, as a lot of pattern makers just “assumed” that home sewists (sewers?) knew to stay stitch necklines, sleeve holes and or side curves. And bias drop also drastically varies, depending on the fabric. I personally wouldn’t risk it, because I made that mistake when I was first starting to sew, gosh… 30 years ago? 😂 My poor dress looked so wonky, and it was for an event.
This is a sew along for people who know exactly what they are doing. Im following this pattern but for shorts and I'm sorry to say, maybe this only applies to myself, but this has made trying to follow the actual instructions very confusing!
I used this pattern and make a different reindeer every year. Unfortunately I’ve lost the template. Your link takes me to Word press. I’m hoping to somehow get it because it my handmade gift to my granddaughters. The Frocks website is way too big. Fingers crossed and kind thanks.
This turned out so great! I heard about this pattern months ago but you by far have the most clear, detailed and thorough sew along. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the quick and to the point review! I'm getting ready to make view A with Atelier Brunette Java Abstract Shapes fabric in Ivy Green! I'm super excited and sure that it will be gorgeous when I'm done! I'll also checkout the sew-along. :) Happy sewing!!!
Thank you so much! I got the back inner waistband turned around and had to seam rip the whole back waistband seams because of the goof. Your tutorial helped me get it right the second time around! 🎉
A tips when using paper as a stabiliser while sewing the fabric, be careful when trying to pull the paper off, so you don’t tear the fabric apart. A good idea is to try the method on a piece of scrap fabric before.
I don’t want to be critical but the collar seems to be skewed , off center. I am not sure if it’s how you are sitting but I noticed it in all the scenes…it is cute and fits you perfectly.
I grew up in the 60s. There were some really fun fabrics at the time. My favorite style had a center pattern that my mom would sew in a complementary fabric. But the dresses were absolutely horrible to sit in. The dress goes way up the leg when sitting. Jr. high is not the place to wear these dresses while trying to be modest. My girlfriends and I soon appreciated wearing pants to school.
