It depends on how you like your kit to sound. I use Evans hydraulics because I like a mellow softer sound. Pinstripes are good for a crisper attack. Ambassadors are a fuller sound than pinstripes, but not as mellow as hydraulics. You probably need to try them out to see which ones you like.
Love this- reminds me of recent cruise and will play when I board a great replacement train in Melbourne to the city and look at all the disgusting graffiti and zombies in the city
Got an older advantage. 10” & 12” racks , and 14” floating floor toms on either side of me. Aquarian super kick 2 head on base drum; sounds A+++. I adore this kit. Got it for a steal.
Sweet! I love this one... it's been put away in storage for about a year now getting my new studio up and running - soon it will be out ready to play again!
I assume that you sold this machine, because i just put a deposit on that exact machine located in Tooele, Utah...any thoughts or problems i should be aware of? Great videos on the old VN#12, thanks brother
I did, I needed the room in the shed I built for my recording studio. I don't know what the new owner did to it, but the only issue I had was the table drive belt (all metal) needed a little help getting started. Just a slight pull up on it and away it went. It's an awesome machine! Have fun with it!
The new owner mentioned the metal chain issue. I know you have done a lot of work to improve the function and reliability of it... great job on that...Thank you sir, I'm a fabricator and gearhead, so will definitely have fun with it..😊

I replied to your other comment, but the short of it is the only issue I had was having to help the table drive belt get started with a little twist...
I love sitting on the balcony in the mornings while on cruises and seeing the Sun slowing rising, hearing the ocean splashing against the ship, so relaxing.
You can try it... it might be cylinder scoring if you are in a cold climate. The S engines had this problem - the Turbos don't because they have extra oil passages inside.
My buddy has this or a similar tray top lathe and cant do threading without some sort of shim between the lead screw and where it meets the quick change box, any help is appreciated
There should be a drive screw there... and a coupler that hooks to it to actually make it turn. Which can be made on the lathe... :) I doubt there are parts out there for these older lathes, so it would have to be made.
Yep, there's even supposed to be 2 belts driving it at the top but with the motor change, a pulley was lost. It works, so I don't fiddle with it. The table drive sounds that way because it's a metal drive belt, like a thick multi-layer chain, so it clanks away.
I have a VN #12 as well and it’s complete. I have the over arm support for horizontal milling and a full set of collets. I even have some doubles of the collets if you could use them? I’m still running the d 3 phase motor and am interested in how you converted yours to single phase. What HP and rating is your motor?
Awesome! I bought it with the motor changed already. It has a 1HP motor on it... the whole motor was taken off and changed with a new one, single phase, 110v. I was able to find a bunch of collets, so I'm good with that- thanks!
You can see the buffet and some food stuff at the end... but I wouldn't recommend eating at Excalibur... :) Maybe the Krispy Kreme there if they are fresh.

Im pretty sure his camera is 60fps capable , maybe his settings are not correct. If this was 72060fps/108060fps it would look soo gorgeous instead of just 720/1080. Still I think he did a Great job!!. I've never been to Luxor Casino but would like to go. I just remember it being a really big deal when it opened when I was a kid forever ago.
@@IAmDistracted 60fps can be Nauseating to some maybe Gen Xers and Baby Boomers like you. As Millenial 80s born, , again, I thought you did good. 60fp is as New as Gen Z's Could not understand Dial up Internet, Or the World before the Internet exisiting.
It's been really reliable! It's a work truck, so it doesn't have to do much except haul stuff... the ac doesn't work, the radio doesn't work very well, it's ugly, it kind of smells inside... but it hauls stuff pretty well! :)
Hello Sir, Is it a 12,5? Perharps can you help me: What is the power of your Electric motor? 1 1/2 horse ? And the Amperage ? I would like know the rpm of the électric motor too.. Thank you very much for your time and your help, Greetings from France
Salut! I believe it is a 1 1/5 horse power motor and 15 amps. I don't know the rpm, it might take a while to find out... I have several other projects going on right now. A+
