My all time favorite artist who just happened to sing my favorite oldie of all time, Witchita Lineman! I remember back in 2011 when downloading the album Ghosts On A Canvas, I heard for the first time that Glen Campbell had dementia. It was like a sucker punch to the gut that bent me over inside! I got to see him twice, the last time at a concert with Kenny Rogers at the Ohio State Fair. As much as I loved Kenny, Glen was the star of that concert! His contribution to American music is immeasurable and he is sorely missed. One of the hardest parts of getting older is seeing artists like Glen leave this earth to never be seen here again. But the legacy he left behind will be remembered and savored for generations to come!
This song was written for Melvyn Franklin of the Temptations. Paul Williams' best friend. It also fits for anyone who has lost someone special in their life. Lost my dad in January 1986. Was my best friend. Would help me with everything. Still think of him and miss him to this day. Thank you Smokey Robinson for this gift to all of us.
This video was shot in what was once my High School’s Auditorium at Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. (class of 1966); along with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Glen Campbell was a legendary Singer, and Guitarist, who had been a studio musician for a long time; but his prodigious talent thrust him to Center Stage! These days the building serves as the Sioux Falls Center for the Arts.
Glen Campbell was the most talented musician ever because of his voice and the many instruments he could play. Such a beautiful talent, thank you for all the sweet memories and your music. ❤❤
