Hi everyone! As you might have guessed from my channel name, I am a Pastor, so don't worry about watching with kids around. No off color jokes or foul language here. I live near the Adirondacks in NY. My goal for this channel is to share some of my experience in hiking, bushcraft, campcraft, "survival", maybe some gear reviews, and some of my other related hobbies. I've been hiking and training in bushcraft/survival since I was 8 years old. 20+ years later, I still love it all and I've picked up some knowledge and experience along the way. Most of my experience is in the Northeastern U.S., but I have also hiked in British Columbia, Arizona, Oregon, and Montana. I'll show you my "Ultralight" version of bushcraft and Hiking. The most important thing is finding what works for you. My outlook is always changing and I'm always looking to learn new and better ways to do things. Hopefully you can find something here that helps you on your way. Thanks for watching.
After 9 years of constant use in all elements, variable setups, and nearly every day sleeping over the duration of those 9 years, my Sub7 finally failed. That is one outstanding product life for being constantly used.
I thought of this sort of system. Can a person sleep at an angle to create the flat sleep effect with this system? That’s what is troubling me of attempting it. Right now, I sleep on top of a military down bag I used since a kid. I never had compression problems, and I store it compressed to. Ya, I know, a big no no, but hey, I am not cold and I sleep in snow. Down on bottom, another bag on top, with half mattress inside it, a silk liner, and a wool blanket at hand in case.
This was made more than 9 years ago. I'm not sure when the BRS 3000t stoves came on the market, but they are lighter, smaller, and way less expensive than the MRS pocket rockets. I did a test boil with my BRS using 1 cup of water yesterday because I'm working on a blog article about alcohol stoves vs canister stoves. My rolling boil time with the BRS stove was around 1:50, so almost 15 seconds faster than your pocket rocket. Granted, elevation can make a difference, but that's impressive to me for a stove that weighs around 1 ounce and costs less than $20.
Пара. 2 по резу продуктов конечно же лучше . В остольном 940 круче , размер , прочность , замок , удобство в руке как в открытом так и сложенном положении . Я предпочитаю 940 но в России популярнее пара2
Great video! I’m a benchmade man but I got my first spyderco recently the micarta pm2 in cruwear. I thank you for your non bias attitude you are fair. And thank you for your encouraging word pastor. God bless.
No reason to use the whole tab, though. The tabs are also great for a quick-light option to use sticks as fuel. Just a snip of tab will carry you from match to wood fire. Also, you didn’t review the store bought alcohol stoves? Which both have a snuffer and a seal-tight lif
Dude, the offsprey poco ag does have a bottle holder right on the front right pack strap. Or atleast ours does. It’s about the size of a baby bottle, but it also has side pockets for water bottles. The offsprey one also helps keep bugs off baby with the mesh sides. And I swear I don’t work for them.
I'm just now seeing this, but I have one and absolutely love it. If you haven't done it already, wrap the handle, just half of it, you'll love it even more. I did mine 2 days after owning it. Way better
Its vrazy how picky you knife fiys are!lol your all need a fidget spinner..a knife is a tool...who cares how it opens...or feels in your hands!or all the other silly things tou guys comain about!
Yeah it sucks when you lose your favorite knife. Lost my 940 took me 3 years to pull the trigger on another 940. Went threw so many knives till i realized. 940 is simply elite.
I’ve got the Sabre grind too and I absolutely love it! Best all around field knife I had. Most of my knives are scandi so I just got this for something different and I highly recommend the Sabre grind for anyone think about this knife. Amazing performance.
The Esbit. Well, I started when I was in The scout's in england. The stove was made for the Forces. MRI packs. And as I am 71 now. They have been around me some time 😅😅😅. Great show of how the difference between the burners . The gas one can slow down on heat when used in the snow. So longer time to heat up things.
The gods didn’t give us claws to slash, rip, and tear, that’s why man made knives. I carry one of those 5.5inch bladed Ti Lites, and boy am I ready to defend myself if need be! My God given right to self defense doesn’t care for anyone’s feelings. Carry something with reach so that there’s no doubt if the time to act ever arises
But here's another issue with those tablets. You can always use them as fire starters for your campfire and in 5 to 6 minutes they'll be burned up and they'll get you a good campfire going. About all they're good for they make terrible nasty marks on the bottom of your pants that you have to scrub off.
The tip is an apple to oranges comparison. The tips are designed for different uses. The Benchmade is thicker and reinforced so would be stronger. The Spyderco will penetrate so much easier, it's almost like a needle so of course will be more fragile. That said I agree with @James-ke5sx.... neither of these tools are pry bars or drills. My edc MUST be useable for self defense, and stabbing is way more effective than cutting in that application. Thanks for the comparison: for a self defense application I believe the Spyderco will win out as the bigger handle with contour and g-10 will stay in hand much better than the straight aluminum handle on the Benchmade!
Thanks for the review. More importantly, thank you for the encouragement from Scripture. I sure needed that today. Been looking at the GNS for some time. Will make the purchase someday. I hear people talk of purchases second hand or used. I’ve never been able to find any camping/bushcraft items second hand anywhere. If I do see things for sale, they are ready for the trash or people put their special mark up price on them. Once again, thanks for the encouragement!
The problem with the lansky is that the angle holes are just reference. With most of my knives, the angle holes are 4 to 6 degrees off. To sharpen my 940 at a true 20, i have to have the rod in the 25-degree hole. So these knives with the 20-degree angle you like so much are probably actually 16 or 17. I discovered this with my spyderco lil native when i was just getting into higher end knives and sharpening. I sharpened it in the 17 hole, and my bevel was just huge, so i got an angel cube, and sure enough, no matter how i clamped it, it was at 11 and 12 degrees. But there's no way to compensate bc if i go to the 20 hole, then the angle is 15, and if i went to 25, it was 20. There's no real way of getting a 17 with thag knife.I use my kme or free hand now, but i thought I'd point it out. Maybe you can get an angle cube and check for yourself
I appreciate the review I just picked one up from a pawnshop near me for like 20 bucks brand new, I’m hoping to go tested the next week or weekend after.
For blades, I carry a Gerber MP600 multi tool, and cold steel G10 Ti lite 6 inch clip point. Alternatively, I will carry a Victorinox Rucksack instead of the MP600. I like having a big fighting knife on me, and will always have one in the system.
