This is a very informative interview. Its a coincidence that Bob wrote Sherry in 15 minutes. I was a singer and not good with the piano. But my great piano playing neighbor was over my house and we were jamming, and i said to him " i think i want to write a song. Thank God my friend stayed tinkling on the piano, and i went into another room and came up with words , melody & title for a song called " Lonely Birthday.I "Wrote down the lyrics and tried to not to lose the melody from my head, and my friend Jimmy got it down on the piano, and the rest was history. I was only 14. I recorded it , it was released on Carlton records.I used the name Jo Ann Joyce. Someone put it on U tube,( dont know who) I wrote two other songs later on but we didnt do anything with them. The coincidence is that it took me less than a half hour to write this song. I had never written anything before that. Funny things like that just happen. Kind of magical in a way.
Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is a master piece and remains one of my all time favorite albums to this day. Mr. Gaudio you are to humble and a true genius, right up there with the best of them.
Bob Gaudio, one of the great and successful writers of pop music while not being given much credit at times. The only writer along with Bob Crewe to write a number one record before, during and after the Beatles. An extremely talented individual who should have much more success with the Neil Diamond play coming soon.
I never knew Bob was involved with so much production of top artists. But his songs were the majic for the success of so many of The Four Seasons hit songs and success.Thank God for his talent.
