A family-owned business headquartered in the heartland of the USA, Toyne takes pride in building fire and emergency apparatus and is committed to the highest standard of quality in everything we do. What began in 1942 as a small custom fire truck business in small town Breda, Iowa, is now one of the most respected and fastest growing fire truck manufacturers in the country. With a tradition of superior craftsmanship and customer service, our company remains committed to excellence and is driven to make Toyne the most trusted truck by firefighters across the nation.
Spartan provides the chassis, and Toyne sets up the pump as well as builds the fire body. Spartan is one of very few fire apparatus manufacturers known for providing their custom cab & chassis to smaller, more regional fire apparatus manufacturers, along with HME-Ahrens Fox, and maybe Sutphen if I recall correctly. Otherwise, any fire apparatus manufacturers that make their own custom chassis will stick with their own bodywork and purchase pumps from either Darley, Hale, or Waterous, with Rosenbauer having their own proprietary pumps for their custom chassis (which they'd probably keep to themselves). If I recall correctly, out of the 40ish fire truck manufacturers that are still in operation here in the US, approximately 8 or 9 of them manufacture their own line of custom chassis, with about half of that being owned by REV Group.
what's up with the cable winch on the slide-out tray in the side compartment? It's not operated from there, is it? Looks like an odd setup; Enormous truck, but only small crew
I remember the days when the men rode on the back of the truck out in the open wheaten standing outside. It's especially difficult in a snowstorm . My dad was a fireman in those days. Hard of hearing years from sirens. While you're running out, there running in. 9/11 to all the New York fireman. God bless Human Angels
Nice truck I would of squared the body off and added ladders and LDH hose bed on top with that size pump and that much water would of been my second In truck .
The very first Volunteer Fire Dept that I started with way back in September of 1985 in Bloomingdale, NY has purchased 3 Toyne Units over the past 15 years. They have purchased 2 Small Tankers on Kenworth Commercial Chassis, and their most recent purchase was in 2016, when they purchased their very first Custom Spartan 6 Man Cab Rescue Pumper. The Spartan 6 Man Custom Cab was the very first fully Custom Cab Rig ever purchased by the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Dept. They have come a very long way in a very short few years, thanks to newer, younger members, and Officers taking charge, and stepping out of their Comfort Zone, getting away from the Commercial Truck Chassis, and getting into a fully Custom Cab Unit, built by Toyne.
Looks very sharp, love the close up and lengthy footage of the pump pannel. I may be biased, my hands assembled those swingout valves, haha. Thanks for the videos!
