Dawson Foundation Repair is a contractor that specializes in foundation repair and house leveling. Dawson uses only one method of foundation repair because it is far superior to the other cheaper and quicker methods. We only install Bell Bottom Piers which have proven their value in the clay soils of Texas for almost 100 years. This construction method (drilled piers) is the method that is used to build support columns for bridges and highway overpasses. Your home may be your most valuable asset and it deserves a PERMANENT solution that is proven and time-tested.

Thank you for your comments. Bell Bottom Piers require more time, more labor, and more steel rebar. A superior foundation repair method.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, you can purchase these plastic barriers at the larger home builder or home improvement stores such as Home Depot or Lowe's.

Hi a have a question is this method better than the pushing pier?
@davidthecardcollector

How do you know where the clean out is? Looks like you had to dig for that one.
@martindawson8996
@martindawson8996 4 года назад
Sometimes the clean out is obvious. Other times the plumber has to do some searching and digging.

Why did a lot of companies stop using this method. Looks like it would be cheaper making your own piers as to buying many pre made ones. Looks like a better system also.
@martindawson8996
@martindawson8996 4 года назад
Yes, we absolutely believe Bell Bottom Piers (drilled piers) is a much better repair and support system for concrete slab foundations. It requires more time, more labor, more concrete, and more steel rebar to build a Bell Bottom Pier. The reason virtually every company in Texas stopped installing Bell Bottom Piers and began using Pushed Piles is profitability. Installing Pushed Piles is fast and the contractors' costs are less, therefore much more profitable for the foundation contractors. However, there is a huge drop of quality with Pushed Piles. The structural engineers at A-1 Engineering call Pushed Piles "temporary" and "almost useless". So you get what you pay for.

One question boss. Is their anyway a plumber can test without having access to the inside of a home?
@RogerWakefield
@RogerWakefield 4 года назад
Gabriel Castro if there is a two way cleanout you can do it all from outside. It is nice to have access to the inside just in case.
@martindawson8996

No. The plumber must have access to the inside of the house.

These types of foundation supports wont work when they are drilled at an angle like you are doing. I have had these done to my home and they have failed (Houston slab repair) Even though they WERE a lifetime warrany they are no longer in business. The problem with them is the black gumbo we have here in Houston. When the ground dries out again and it will. You will see those huge cracks in the ground. The piers will shift to a steeper angle and the house will settle again. When the ground gets wet again it will not force the pier back to the same angle. This would work if the pier was drilled straight into the ground. Only problem is with the depth of the pit you would have to dig to get straight under the slab. Nice concept just doesn't hold up in reality. Also show they how you destroy the floor when you do an interior pier.

E Buzek, Sorry to hear about your experience with a company that is no longer in business. We have seen this happen dozens of times in our 30 years of operation in the Texas market. That is why we encourage people to select a company that has decades of experience and knowledge in the foundation repair and leveling business. We also encourage people to perform internet searches for "complaints" and "lawsuits" pertaining to a specific company. When you find a specific company mentioned dozens of times for a complaint or lawsuit you should probably avoid them. Regarding a foundation repair method, it is our experience and opinion that the Bell Bottom Pier method is the best or highest quality repair available. The pressed pile methods are flawed methods that some structural engineers had publicly declared as "temporary" and "almost useless". Give us a call and we can chat.

The soil core test will show the foundation repair contractor and homeowner the depth that must be reached to allow installation of piers in stable soil. A test hole is drilled near the foundation and soil samples are extracted at various depths.

How much was this job cost if you don't mind me asking? I too have cracks going thru my brick from top to bottom, and just need a ball park figure so I can start saving my hard earned money. Thanks for the video.

djkennd2, We listen to the most highly educated and trained experts in the field - structural engineers. They support publicly drilled piers and drilled piers with bell bottoms (Bell Bottom Piers). They also state publicly that concrete cylinders pressed into the soil are flawed and have described them as "temporary" and "almost useless". You can find a number of engineering studies, reports, and questions in our engineering section of our website at: www.dawsonfoundationrepair.com/engineering-information/

Anthony, You are right, it is old - about 100 years old. But it WORKS !! Bell Bottom Piers offer the best solution to soil movement and needed support for concrete slab foundations. Really. You can compare Bell Bottom Piers to the commonly used cheaper methods at: www.dawsonfoundationrepair.com/engineering-information/
