Hey! Thanks for the video For some reason I can only control my colors when I press the colors on the SS software itself. When I hit buttons on my control one its not responding. Can anyone help? 😅
I was born in '77 so I missed out on the park jams, but I grew up listening to Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, etc... Red Alert used to play those breaks the same way and told stories about the park, the Fever, the Roxy, all that. I was lucky to get my hip hop education from all that and didn't realize it at the time...
Same here. I did not realize that at the time, we were experiencing hip hop history in the making. I was a fan of Chuck Chillout, Red Alert, Mr. Magic, DJ Hollywood, etc. Also, I was one of those kids going to the Fever, Latin Quarters, the Roxy, to name a few. Thanks for sharing.
Bro you're spreading false info about herc....he came to america at 11 or 12 ...he became americanized n learned how to dj from american djs he did not invent what he called the merry-go-round technique pete dj jones or grandmaster flowers did...also dancehall culture didnt start until around 1980 n was inspired n influenced by black americans...also jamaican music culture was inspired and heavily influenced by black americans ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PcvWxe42QTM.html herc didnt create hip hop he contributed to it n didnt inject any jamaican cultural elements...they got rapping n djing from us
DJ Herc was the 1st DJ I heard do the Merry-Go-Round live in 1975. He is Jamaican, I spoke about his contribution to the culture. He was not the only one but when you went to a Kool DJ Herc party, it was expected. When I first heard other DJs, they was not doing the Merry-Go-Round. All of us jumped on the Merry-Go-Round bandwagon once word spread. I was not privy to Pete DJ Jones because he really did not play in the park. However, my uncle who used to go parties where Pete DJ Jones played said he play soul and Disco. It was later after other DJs started improving the Merry-Go-Round he jumped on the bandwagon, like myself. Finally, Grandmaster Flowers, who is another DJ I saw in Bed-Sty Brooklyn signature song was Love is the Message, was not doing the Merry-Go-Round technique initially. GM Flowers was the 1st DJ I saw blend and mix songs together. Most DJs played the song, not really mixing. Back in the day, I was one of those DJs who would go beyond the neighborhood just to hear these DJs and many unsung DJs who also contributed to the culture.
@@chuckanthanio just because he was the first you heard doesnt mean he was the 1st...pete dj jones played for a older n different crowd (your uncle). maybe him n flowers didnt use the technique often but they were the 1st...what made herc get popular was how much he used the technique n the younger crowd he used it for. Hercs contribution to the culture was excessive use of the technique n that is what had the bboys coming to his parties. Him being jamaican had nothing to do with his contribution to rap culture. he brought nothing from jamaica. everything he did he learned in america. once again jamaicans got their music culture from us thats why i posted the link to show you their own legends telling how they copied us. Theres a articles where pete dj jones said he used the technique as early as 71
@@uptownbladebrown First of all, thanks for listening and your passion for Hip Hop History and Culture. I tried to share my experience during that period in my life. I will check out the link as I am opened to learning more and hearing from others.
@@chuckanthanio no doubt bro...i also appreciate hearing from the ppl that was outside at that time..although it may seem like i didnt hear u... i did especially with what you said your uncle said i will definitely have to look into it more
i followed instructions and it worked but lost control of control 1s. so i tried it in reverse restart control one open ss hit performance mode then opened vdj then drop song then click pad and the control stayed on..connecting to gigbar move
@@chuckanthanio yes exactly as you put them i am running the latest virtual dj and soundswitch. the light work in soundswitch. but there seems to be no communication between cound switch and virtual DJ.
@@chuckanthanio solution i had the wrong bonjour driver. ONLY instal the bonjour printservice drive. if you have something else installed or install the wrong one it wont communicate correctly.
