This channel documents my N-scale layout that has been a dream of mine for over 20 years. This layout is based upon coal operations along the Logan subdivision in southwestern West Virginia. The layout models the Trace Fork subdivision, which is a branch off of the Logan subdivision. Peach Creek yard is also represented on the layout, along with the Twin Branch Coal Company's coal load-out in Scarlet, WV. The time period for the layout is 1991-1993, so only locomotives and such from that period will be on the layout. The layout is dedicated to the memory of my Dad, who was the one who got me into model railroading.
You have given tribute to the person you loved. My dad started me in the very same way in S gauge, and then into HO when i was about 10. My dad too is gone and im 72. The stories are long and the fondness never forgotten. You posted a beautiful story that brings back much, and I will hope to build a layout soon after being away for 60 years. Enjoyed your story. I got into model trains with my Dad's O Gauge Lionel trains which my Grandfather got him into as a child. I started with HO myself, and now share that with my son. My Dad is responsible for getting me back into the hobby with my son a couple years ago before he passed away. It's a great hobby to be shared amongst generations.

I think you will find that just about ANY dielectric grease will work. It doesn't have to be that particular product. Small amounts are sold at automotive parts stores for battery and headlight connections.
Nice Layout and Nice Coal Runs. I've seen the B&O, Chessie and now CSX run the Shortline from Clarksburg WV to New Martinsville WV for Decades. Coal Trains are still running long and strong Thankfully.
I have similar results on my H0 layout using Inox MP3 oil. Its easier to apply, but needs reaplying a few of drops on the rails which spread around the layout every couple of months.
