This journey isn't always about me, as I've learned to move forward in life. I have experienced several "what if moments" as I continue to excercise self care after 11 years of caregiving and losing my spouse.
I retired in 2023 and ventured on my first big trip camping along the way for 5 months to the east coast from Alberta. Not wanting to do the usual, I ventured up to Labrador City from Quebec on Route 389.
I'm continuing my ventures on the west coast of Canada and the US, meeting up with some amazing people along the way.

I remember visiting the gardens, with Art, in 2008. He had retired that summer, and we did a cross- Canada 3 month journey. I imagined trekking my daily walks here, and how soothing they would have been.
Very nice campsite! I've never been there. And many many years since I've been to Butchart Gardens. I do remember, though, loving to Japanese gardens the best!
This video intrigued me, because Emily from her channel TheCatLadyVan is there making her way back to the mainland slowly but surely due to making sure her newly rebuilt engine is going to be ok.
Awesome!! I’ve been to Port McNeill, did a dog & house sitting gig at a place on the beach. And afterwards went over to Alert Bay to visit an Elder, who gave us a tour around the island. I’ve heard about Sointula but have only seen it from the Alert Bay ferry. I hear it’s beautiful up in Port Hardy, and Port Alice too.
Were you heading to the Cowichan River meetuP? I wish I could have gone but I was at Rathtrevor for a previous commitment. This year we have done Quadra and Cortes as well as Denman and Gab. We will be up to see DanthevanmanDan in August..
Yes I was heading down to the meetup at Cowichan River. You are going to Dawson City - sweet. I’m leaving the island later this week to do the Washington/Oregon trail and O24 meetup.
