No time for gay after this but gay u and u set up mob lost he swep the floor shit u all love u gerry from head 2 toe well done gerry from jimmy and provo
I remember the aftermath, Biddy and Carol get into a physical fight at the Morans Christmas get together! Biddy and Miley developed an attachment to Carols son while they looked after him.
I remember as a kid watching this when it was first televised. George, the Rector had told Fiona how his parents were very shy and was afraid George would frighten them, in a previous episode. I couldn't help but notice, there's nothing shy about them. It's obvious the Rector wanted to keep them away for the opposite reason!
Poor Dick decides he'll take a leaf out of his brothers book! I remember Patrick Bergin plays a right sinister gangster character in Eastenders - Aiden McGuire. He throws he weight around the Square and is not to be messed with. RIP - Emmet Bergin
Terry Killeen, or the actress who played her, reminds me of Detective Amanda Rollins a little, played by Kellie Giddish in Law and Order SVU. They both have the same blonde hair (different styles though) and a similar facial expression. I don't blame Dick Moran for having such a crush on her!
Great to find a few Glenroe episodes online. I watched them last night with a few beers. I remember watching them as a child. Everyone looked so young!!
Gerry Adam’s wiped the floor with this fellas that night. As much as they tried to unsettle him, he kept a level cool head , stuck to the facts and let these fools show the world what the nationalists were up against
Glennroe similar to fair City , first their talented actors. But problem with Glenroe downfall , was its own downfall, they didn't up their game by having on (1) 3 days a week. (2). Relied on same characters. (3) The Scripts. Plus in those people had only RTE to watch.
Gay's father was a British soldier in WW1 and an employee of Guinness's brewery which didn't employ Catholics until 1939. Byrne's mother was a devout Catholic.
As I sit here in New York watching this in 2024, as a Kid in 80s Ireland, I was too young to watch political interview’s Rte , But watching it now , I’ve one observation, you have 6 British Government Tools attacking One True Irishman, who did his Forefathers proud , of Resisting Tyranny, My Family in Kerry were fighting Cromwell with Viscount Muskerry , makes me sick that the Elites In Ireland like Gay sold out to our Slave masters , Gerry Adams is a Gaelic Warrior in the Spirit of Hugh O’Neill and my hero Big Fellow Mick Collin’s , if they were on the panel they would be calling them Murderers too , pack of Traitors!!!!
@The.TV.Addict It makes no sense to reupload videos that are already in the public domain and have been uploaded by other users. Also doing so without informing them beforehand is poor behaviour.
Thank you for your comment RTE owns the copyright not the original uploader, their efforts are acknowledged as being the original uploader No one knows when video material will be removed or accounts closed down so the more people who share it the better in order to preserve it for everyone to see If you have a problem with that, I acknowledge your opinion and thank you for taking the time to comment and remember unless we purchase the copyright it belongs to RTE, we should be thankful they haven't made an issue
@@The.TV.Addict Hold on there a second. I originally uploaded a video to my channel way before you even set yours up. I know that you are aware of the source because I seen you have a playlist featuring your video and mine the original. But you cheekily decided not to credit me as the original uploader.
@@The.TV.Addict I uploaded this video. Plus you have a playlist with this video and my video in it, but chose not to acknowledge me as the original uploader.
@@all2be126 in that case I apologise, they was careless on my part, my bad, I'll amend that. Also I never claimed it was my own work all rights belong to RTE
@@all2be126 actually I'm not sure where I got it from, once something goes online it's shared by multiple users, but thank you for clearing up that you were the original uploader
Just like fair city, Glennroe too got stupid after a while. the reason people watched it the 80's. Because Ireland didn't have that many channels at the time. Now in fairness their were great actress/actors in the show. But the Scripts were crap.
Its called a citizens arrest and here in NYC where illegal drug use was common among youth for decades. If only ordinary local citizens could have stepped up as described in this episode the drug epidemic in Ireland might never have gained such a foothold of power in modern day Ireland.
This is false nonsense most of them would have heard these jokes several times but still laughed as if they never heard them before. Dont get me wrond i thought Nial toibin was very good
I remember when I was younger watching this at that time and nearly 30 years on, I feel the same, war was war and war is war, those British bastards came into mine and gerrys country and u had these 2 faced Irish politicians backing the British, 30 years on backing foreigners, those scumbags livin around me, bit around these so called run the country politician
Gay Byrne was too shallow & so the worst interviewer for any serious issues on his show. He simply was not educated enough to delve into issues with an open & informed mind! If he doesn’t like his guests he tries to patronise them or insult them or goad them into losing their patience with his silly interviewing. Gerry Adams was too clever & articulate for all of these arrogant southern Irish prats!
Funny while Gerry was eager on several occasions the attempt on his life he didnt mention that it was an off duty UDR man who returned fire on his attackers and saved his life which is the same when Bernadette Devlin / McAliskey was seriously injured , her life was saved by a Parachute Regiment Medic . I wonder if EITHER ever thanked the people who saved their lives
Gay Byrne's opinion would be entirely different if he had lived as a Catholic in Northern Ireland instead of in his ivory tower on the top of Howth Hill
‘A statelet that didn’t recognise my rights as a human being’. Gerry Adams. Isn’t that the case in Ireland today? Yet Adams & his Sinn Fein support the denial of the rights of the Irish to have a voice in who comes into their country, into their community. SF have been changed beyond recognition.
The way they speak abt ‘these people’. Gerry a facist! What a statement! These interviews exposed the people they were dealing with. The whole world is happy there is peace in NI. 5 v 1. Would any of the 5 be the 1?
My dad was from Sligo, my mum from Cork. I can remember my dad getting annoyed at the TV! I was born in 1970. To watch back Gerry (and Martin) in these interviews just shows how educated and patient they were with the who they had to deal with. They had their eye on peace.
@@Thewrighty543 I don't deny that, I think The Brit's were complicit in zero abuses of murder, rape and a policy of deliberate stsrvation in Ireland for hundreds of years. But Adams and McGuiness were killing their own countrymen. They can try and whitewash their crimes as much as they like.
Maybe you might have forgotten.... Adams and any other Republican representative from the occupied 6 counties weren't even allowed by the Irish state a voice on either TV or Radio yet members of the DUP party that supported State terror and murder against average Catholics were welcomed with open arms with the biggoted leader Ian Paisley and his daughter even giving her a Saturday night talk show.......That will say EVERYTHING about the position RTE had towards what was happening Above
