You couldn't hardly get me up for school...but on Sunday mornings I'd be in front of the TV with the volume cranked up listening to the Jubilee... these videos sure bring back memories.
Such good memories from my childhood. I'd watch Davey and Goliath and the Godpel Singing Jubilee. Still listen to Good ole Southern Gospel to this day. I,always watched with my grandparents. If these shows are available on DVD please let me know.
I was in my sixties before I understood what Jubilee means. I always wondered what Jubilee means. I didn't want to look or sound dumb by asking anyone what it means. It took listening to Jonathan Cahn for me to know what Jubilee means.
I love Jake Hess! I love to hear him sing; his beautiful smile and great laugh; and, his wonderful sense of humor. He had an incredible strength of character; humility; respect for others; love of friends and family; and, his unwavering faith and belief in God. He set the bar high for all the rest of us to tr 9:50 y to achieve. God Bless Him and reward him with everlasting peace and love. Jake was a true and faithful disciple. 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶
I can totally agree and identify with Hovie's statement! "As long as God's in control ..... As long as Im with Him I'll be okay". Thanking God everyday 🙏🏼
As a very young little girl, we would often go to Atlanta on a Saturday night (a very long trip in the 1950’s.) for all night signings. The Staresmen we’re always part of that all night singing!
So sad that Anthony passed away at such a young age....he is truly missed but without a doubt if given the opportunity to come back he would choose to stay in Heaven.
I CAME TO SOUTHERN GOSPEL MUSIC TOO LATE TO SEE MOST OF THESE GODLY PEOPLE WHEN THEY WERE ALIVE AND IN THEIR PRIME YEARS, BUT, I LOVE LISTENING TO THEM ANYWAY!
They would say we love you welcome to the sound of Southern Gospel you are welcome to rejoice and sing with us the praises to our savior Jesus. I grew up hearing some of it in the 70's and early 80's. I had drifted off into the world and Southern Gospel had really lost its popularity to newer style music. In the early 90's Jesus found me and I was born again and I looked for many of the songs I heard as a child from the Happy Goodman Family and Blackwood Brothers, and Nelons, but there was not much out at that time. It was about the time Greater Vision 1st began their group when Bill Gaither did the 1st Homecoming and it was like an answered prayer as the songs I loved as a child came alive again almost like one last revival, but it ignited new singers and new groups to continue the tradition of good Southern Gospel. I still love it and miss all of these old singers. They were annointed by the Lord and you could feel it when they sang and could see they experienced what they were singing about. Heaven will be something to see with all the singing and shouting that will be going on!
