Oh wow these are cute, its always been recommended to start with a Rider-Waite deck they have some at barnes amd noble with explainations on each card too
At 3:21 " you can only actually see things if you have words for them........." Well, babies do not yet have words for things. So,are they blind? Obviously babies are not blind. A scientist discovers a new species....how is that possible, after all ,when the scientist perceived it it does not yet have a name. Pretty ridiculous l.
Thank you for this. Apparently Eteilla was the first to use the idea of reversals. I have this deck, have had it for several years - like you, I was attracted to the artwork, the sense of history - but because of its different structure of the Majors (the creation of the earth cards in the majors, the virtues, etc.) I had set it aside thinking I wouldn’t use it for quite awhile. But last night I was shuffling all my decks, and I was so struck by how these just melted into my hands. You’re absolutely right that they have a wonderful feel. It immediately changed my mind about them, and I did a reading with them tonight. (A reading style I do for myself with 3 different decks, and these blended right in.) I also appreciate your one- card reading at the end. It’s a lovely way to end an “unboxing” and I’ve subscribed to your channel! Thanks so much!
Good thing I'm looking after doing my reading on Golden Dawn Tarots. Wang's Qabalistic Tarot and partially Zalewski's Magical Tarot of the Golden Dawn. From those texts and my Marseille Tarot background the simple pips are fine by me, stuff life the flowers, the flow of water and the crossing of items say a lot. Robert Wang's Golden Dawn Tarot has more subdued colors, but the art is amateurish. The Zalewski deck has colors even harsher than this one. This one has some Thothy additions, so does The Hermetic Tarot, which is very dense in its imagery. Thoth is a gorgeous deck but with its Crowleyisms. One has to compromise. My advice is reading up before getting a deck like this. Thanks for a clear walkthrough of the cards and the sections of the book, I'm sold on the set, personally.
Powerless decks 🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼 I checked this out as a friend sent it to me. And, again, it simply reinforces me into a firm position to notice how crude and useless other decks than, Smiths symbolic work are. I prefer older decks, and recreations of them. I never get anything other than nonsense when using “new age” decks. Like talking to a sun eating Hindu guru, living in a tree…. 😹 Runes and bones are still the best for me. Thanks for the unboxing, I know I didn’t want it before, now I’m sure. 👍🏼 Happy Mabon / Samhain 🌝🌳🌞💚
You don't know Tarot history. This is an Etteilla's system deck, a system born at the end of the 18th century, and this particular deck is a repro of a 19th century deck. Much older than any Smiths deck.
Thanks for the review, they have just republished this deck so I think I will pick it up. It's somewhere between the Grimaud (which has quite a dark palette) and the CBD which I like a lot.. May I ask if you are still reading? And if so where I might book a reading? Cheers.
thank you for this wonderful and illuminating video. As a note about purity, many readers use imperfections in various historical tarot decks as further tools for interpretation, and with much success. I certainly don’t believe in any pure or perfect Marseille tarot because, for one, history just demonstrates that idea to be hilariously wrong, and two, the imperfections and variations both within single decks and among different decks is a unique and useful way to read tarot, as well as adding to their charm.
Hello! I just wanted to say thank you again for featuring my tarot deck! I appreciate your kind words and hope that you enjoy using this deck 🙂 Cheers, Jackie
You can either choose your significator if you want to use it as a focus for the reading. Or, in a larger reading, you look for where the chosen significator is and read around it. Or, you let it fall as it chooses, and then interpret based on your question. Hope that helps :)
I know this is a little late but there is a little person, an elf or a child in the Growth card, peeping from behind a tree in the upper left side of the card. It quite surprised me when I spotted it. (I spent a lot of time admiring the art in the cards!)
How is the cardstock with this deck? I've been a big fan of the thoth tarot and have been using it for a while and the golden dawn tarot seems very similar to it and something i could see myself getting into but i was wondering how durable the cardstock is like if i have to worry about the cards easily bending or creasing i'm sorry if i seem picky the deck seems absolutely amazing but i care alot about decks having long-term durability
Hello! Where did you buy the Jodorowsky tarot deck? Is the quality of the cards good? I mean, have you used them enough, have they held up to long-term use? Thank you so much
My mum taught me to use a pendulum when I was a child, it is absolutely safe and fine. And yes, I don't see that it needs to be connected to religious belief. This can be used to ask questions of whatever 'source/God/Goddess' you believe in. It's about making a connection with something beyond, whatever that means to you, and even if it is simply your own higher self.
Scorpio used to be either an eagle, vulture, snake, or scorpion. The Thoth Tarot is more meaningful than the Golden Dawn Magical Tarot and less abstract, but it is more about representing how his religion understands the universe than a mystery school among others in the world.
Oh wow I wanted to see if any tarot reader was talking about the new DC Tarot and I find this one 🤗 amazing didn't know there was a Justice League Tarot 📖✍🏼. Thank you for sharing this video. And yes you kind of need to know who all thos heroes and villains are but it speaks to me very will. Hopefully the new DC Tarot has a book for those who don't know the back stories of this great superheroes 🤗🌹
some modern tarot are not cannon, I really dislike it cause the only thing that remains are the names of the cards, sometimes even that is changed...I dont know how someone is willing to read this cards lacking of symbolism
only thing is with the first method and that they keep wanting to fall out of my hand in the middle of shuffling (i have very small hands) and i don’t know how to keep a better hold of them
