They put an AN1X "engine" into the Yamaha Montage 2...and that doesn't sound like this at all. I even wonder if they could remake this baby, which I have.
Hard to say. I think I would actually go with Synth1. It's extremely versatile and can do most sounds I'm after. It's also not that hard to program. Other favourites are PG-8X and Diva which I use all the time. If you want something that can do most analogue synth sounds and actually sound analogue then Diva is the best. I also love Elka X, but just as Diva it's quite heavy for the computer to handle which becomes annoying when you stack sounds like I tend to do. Synth1 and PG-8X is so light on the computer and the DAW to handle. I also use Surge quite a lot when I need bells (mostly I use Synth1 for bells tough, if I think about it) or other metallic and more digital synth sounds.
@roboticrealm Where are the presets from this Video? The presets like Tronopid and e. piano 1, etc...? After I downloaded I looked through all of the presets just looking for the ones from the video but I couldn't find any. It came with Dexed_01.syx (which includes 32 presets) and a folder named synprezFM which has 32 banks with 32 presets each, for a total of 1,024 presets in the synprezFM folder. I couldn't find any of the presets that were sampled in this video in any of the sample banks that came with Dexed 😕... Does anybody know why?
Seven years! Patches are still up! Thank you, I look forward to trying them. It’s weird, I have tons of virtual synths, but the PG-8X gives me the feel of my old JX-8P. It must be something about the workflow of programming with the PG-08 controller layout, I can’t imagine the sound is difficult to replicate. But it was my second ever polysynth and the first with faders and buttons for each parameter (my first was the Korg Poly-800) so I basically learned how to make synth sounds properly on the old girl. Oh, and the portamento has some sort of curve that at its extremes I haven’t been able to match to my satisfaction. It’s sad that the PG-8x is probably on the clock. The old vsti is already tiny on my 4k screen, it’s only a matter of time before the standard changes and the DLL is for the circular file. I’d better get all my ideas to tape before then! I’ve been re-recording a lot of stuff from last century where the 4 track and 8 track analogue masters have been lost.
Sorry, but now I'm a big fan of your patches, so I'm downloading all of them. 😂 I'm amazed at the big ammount of patches that can be programmed with Synth1 even nowadays. Thank you!
Thank you! I feel like I just play the same-old, same-old. When listening to a guy like this I feel like my playing is severly lacking and that I should start practicing more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LZGkcH1rbLA.html
@@roboticrealm I understand that sometimes as a musicians we fall in the trap of comparing with others, but I think your playing has a magic and originality that’s hard to find. It’s not just about the speed-it’s about the depth and feeling you bring to your music. That’s what makes your playing special to me 🎹👍🎶 Keep the good work man!
For some odd reason the settings of this video when initially uploaded had the comments turned off. That was never my intent. Fixed now. Sorry about that. I hope you find the presets useful. I'm quite pleased by how most of the presets turned out.
Beautifull sounds! Is there a way to import all the presets as sound bank instead of per preset? There are no tutorials on that on RU-vid for as far I know
If you need even further instructions, you can watch Espen Kraft's new video on this VST: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O_mZGUz1qVI.html
@@roboticrealm thanks for the response, yea, I tried that but the patch for some reason is not highlighted when you search for it - and you can’t click it. It’s probably just something on my end like a security app function or whatever
I wish I knew. I've searched for that information myself. I have seen some pictures from his studio around 1988 or 1989 (or something). In that picture you can make out that he owns an Oberheim Xpander (released 1984 so it could have been used), Roland MKS80, PPG Wave 2.2. and believe he must have used an Emulator II too. I think I can hear a DX7 in the bassline stacked with another synth in Maria Magdalena. Also on some german forum there was an old picture of him with synths where it seems he also has an Oberheim OBXa. All these are speculations though, but he used samplers, no doubt. In the video of Samurai we see an Emulator II and I am pretty sure he used that... @@roboticrealm Thanks for the comprehensive answer. I think your research is correct because all the synthesizers listed were released before 1985, when this Sandra album was released. Thus, I understand that you created the sounds for your patch with wonderful nostalgic presets solely relying on auditory memory and the capabilities of the Synth1 synthesizer. @@vadikmusic1896 I also believe they did a lot of stacking of synth sounds. It was very common back then. I even do that myself. Therefore it's even more difficult sometimes recreating a sound when there are like three synths playing at the same time. Several sounds on Maria Magdalena are like that.
There are no patches to download and install from this video, so I don't know what you're talking about here. Maybe you posted on the wrong video? I have several other videos with patches for VST synths...
How to save modified factory presets in this vst. I am unable to save after modification. But I can save the presets by modifying init preset. How to do that?
this Synthsizer has Stood the test of time this thing sounds like a Nord lead and jp 8000 at the same time...Fairly cheap and way better than some modern synthsizers ( waldorf, behringer, arturia,c;lassic nord lead 2x)
