What bothers me os the lack of vision that Cox had in comparison to other similar players such as the Japanese brads like Kyosho , Tamiya. This could have been a huge presence in the RC field. Odd really
Cuando era un niño, tuve una Mecánica Popular donde venía un artículo sobre este helicóptero. Dormía con la revista soñando tenerlo algún día. Nunca lo tuve, ahora puedo disfrutar verlo en video. Grácias 😢
The Swift3 is manufactured by Aeriane in Belgium. The structure is molded composite and can't be offered as a kit, it must be precisely built in molds to exacting specifications.
Did you see the video of the guy that actually did this back in the 60's or 70's? It's somewhere here on youtube (not Travis Pastrana). "Motocross jump with hang glider" is the name of the video and Bob Wills is the...pilot.
I had one of these and loved it! The wings were made of styrofoam however, so you had to be careful with it. One day, the battery that was required to charge it died. Instead of buying a new battery, my older brother came up with the brilliant idea of charging it with a car battery. It was too powerful and burned out the cell that would normally hold the charge. And that was the end of my Superstar. It was fun while it lasted though. 😂
I suggest you put a pressue guage on that intake and see how much static pressure you make with the electric super-charger on that your currently using because it's always going to be less than with the engine running; and for an engine that small a miniature roots style may perform better for you. It takes a very high RPM to get pressure from a centrifugal (an excess of 10K to be sure) and I doubt the motor you're using goes anywhere near that.
The original German oblique wing design had a Round section in center. Something like, adding a short high swept back section in wing root, next to fuselage, allowed the variable swept wing to be practical
No plans or kit, all my ornithopters are scratch-built one-off designs. I have some threads on RC Groups showing how I built them, search my username "mlbco". I still hang glide but infrequently. Last flight was a year ago! I will be flying a new Swift3 in the fall.
It seems you can control yaw with one foot, did you set the rudder pedals for a single foot or does it naturally push left when you turn to right? Beautiful images anyway, the clouds so high, is it Nevada?
The rudders are on each wingtip and each pedal connects only to one rudder. I only need my foot on the inside pedal when thermalling. The video is from a hang gliding competition in Arizona, 2019.
@@soliv27 Yes, you can fly weight-shift (or flaps) for pitch and rudders for yaw/roll. Elevons are better, but in an emergency you can fly w/o them and this has been demonstrated!
Okay, so YOUR the ONE! I was wondering who had built that! I was volunteering every time you took it up so I wasn't able to track you down... I'd like more info, have you thought about sharing your experience on the FT forums?
I'm happy to share info. There is info on RC Groups under the ornithopter section, my user name is mlbco. I just looked up the Flite Test forum, didn't know about this until now. Which section would be a good place to post, I didn't see a Flite Fest 2024 section.
@@smorrismlbco Awesome, thanks! I'd post it up under the electric aircraft section... I know you generated a LOT of discussion at FF with that crazy contraption flapping around! LOL I'm kilroy07 on the FT forums, see you soon!
Dude NAILED it when he was on camera. Major props to him. That thing was crazy heavy for an RC vehicle. It was truly the most shocking thing I've seen fly at Flite Fest.
