Here I am trying to share my little experience about diagnostics repairs and services of cars. I aim to share, and learn every day. I'll be happy to take all your comments and advice on how I can improve. Furthermore, if you like how I repair cars and you have a problem of your own, leave a comment under the video and I will make a video on how to solve it. Thanks for watching
Hey mate i have 2017 galaxy tdci powershift, its leaking oil i get a little smoke sometimes coming from underneath the airbox, yesterday i got limited gearbox function. Do you think this could be the issue?
Usually, N47 don't bent valves. But it is always a good idea to do pressure test on cylinder after camshaft carrier is removed. Use cylinder head pressure tester. Hope it helps. Sorry for the delay
good evening, I have the same vehicle as in the video, Audi A6 c7 190hp. engine light on, I changed the egr and egr radiator, and I still have the engine light on and a loss of power. I noticed that the generations are being made, and there is a smell of exhaust gas in the passenger compartment. Can you help me please ?
OK thanks for your answer. I don't have a vagcom I will ask a garage to look at it. do you know what to do with the vagcom after changing the egr radiator?
Thanks for the video. My timing chain broke. Can I ask you if I can swap any n47 over from any bmw? Can I also ask if you have done any engine swaps from n47 to n57?
There are 3 types of n47 engine. The first one is n47d20a the first generation of n47 mostly fitted on bmw 2007-2010. The second one is n47d20c mostly fitted from 2010-2013 the last one is is the same code n47d20c but it is the latest n47d20c only fitted from 2013 till 2015. So you need to know which generation is yours. But yes as long as the gen is the same as yours you can get one from any series. You may need to get bare engine only as some components won't fit from series to series. The second question I never done but I belive it is doable.
Hello mr. , Im very happy to sharing this video from you, I need you- i"ll be very grateful to your answer, I have problem with dpf, or.maybe not, but when I restored my injectors, since then my AUDI A6, 2012, 2.0 TDI, do many often regeneration, city ride about 120 km, highways-(way to my job)- about 240 km, but before reparing injectors didn"t do so much often regeneration. The mechanincs told me that is not any problem, cause there is no light or showing error, so dont being disturb. But I know that is not perfect and the problem remain, so what you recomend, this video shows simply cleaning dpf, is that the solution? thank you very much for your answers, TADEJ GABRIC, SLOVENIA
Leave the bracket on the engine is designed that way you remove the top pulleys and remove both belt and tensioner from the top 🥸Less work and takes about 2 hours total
Yea without the tools the job is incorrect and the tension is distributed wrong over time and belt stretch causes misalignment of the engine thus not correct 😢
Hello, I wanted to ask, I saw the DPF cleaning video. This product can also clean the exhaust gas recycling radiator for the Audi a6 or you need to do another procedure
hi i have vw passat2ltr exhaust gases getting in the car, could this be bcoz of blocked dpf ? car runs fine no lag or loss of power.and i have spent so much on the car but problem still there. done lot of tests no leak found.plz help. thanks
Hi there, I have a 116d n47 e81 with suspected timing issue, lined up mark on cams and fitted locking tool also fitted flywheel pin, removed clutch/flywheel and cover. My question is the fuel pump cogs mark was off by 45 degrees, but when fitted crank locktool and turned cranck 45degdrees anticlockwise the pump marks line up. Should it line up b4 or after? I have picture ,do you have a email that i can send them to you just to confirm if it correct.
Hi. If you look at on the video at 6:46 the timing mark on fuel pump is lined up with copper marker on the chain. That is how it suppose sit when camshaft locked and crank shaft positioned. Mark the front crankshaft pully with marker or tippex while the pin locked in the flywheel so you can check the position later before re assembling everything. But, if it moves a bit, it is OK.
Thanks for sharing. Noticed you have 137k miles? How often have you done this process and have you ever taken off the filter completely for cleaning before?
@@carsEVsvans I meant have you ever had it cleaned by a shop by taking off the filter completely. They take the filter and run the chemicals through it then put it in an oven.
@@drewdub8425 no. This is a customer car and we do this for many of our customers and it works very well at least 90% of the time. If your car hasn't lost power (has not been in limp mode for a while) you can use this method. You will need to follow the instructions on the solution you use and use diagnostic equipment to reset the value or activate dpf regeneration. So to answer your question, no I didn't not take it to the dpf cleaning centre.
@@carsEVsvans Thanks. I was just curious because over here there’s only 1 maybe 2 shops then do the cleaning. I feel the services over there is more available. I’d love to try this method but there aren’t really “over the counter” solutions sold here such as this.
Also, the sign are the typical low on power, rough idle, etc. but that can be a number of things. From what I read the sensor measures pressure and when the light comes on, the pressure within that chamber isn’t where it’s supposed to be.
The previous owner changed my mk6 Jettas DPF filter at 180k miles. The dealer does not do any cleaning but instead change the whole can. The car is now at 240k and the light went on. Generally I’ve read that it should be taken out and cleaned every 60k-75k miles, but that’s just talk on the internet. I’ve reset the faults, did some spirited driving, waited till the active regen finishes cycle, but it won’t go away. The dealer will charge $250 for a diagnoses here in CA, USA regardless because it’s their protocol. All that being said, I’m taking it off and having it flushed by a diesel shop.
You had the engine out and you did not replace the crankshaft bearings? Also the high pressure pump notch should line up with the mark when the special tool is fitted on the crankshaft and locked the crankshaft to 45deg atdc at nr1 cylinder. The bearings are also gone on these engines by this time.
Yes it is a good idea to replace the bearings on this kind of sinario, but the price will go higher than what the customer planned to spend. Regarding the mark on fuel pump, I don't know how you didn't see it but, it exactly where it should be. I am willing to learn new method or skills. Belive or not I have done more than 100 n47 engine through out. But like I said I am happy to take your input. Thanks for watching
@@carsEVsvans The customer will spend much more at the end unless get rid of the car. I see this many times that somebody replace the timing and again you have to pull the engine out to do the bearings and usually that time the crankshaft is gone also. At the end it could cost 5 times more. Its not a good idea to replace the bearings it is necessary. Regarding the timing maybe it is not visible properly on the video. If you follow the manufacturer instructions and use the timing setup tool you are ok.
I also have a problem with the dpf filter in the sense that due to the low temperature outside the filter it does not reach a temperature higher than 250 degrees and regeneration cannot be done, I did forced regeneration while driving with the carista and in vain that the ash still does not fall from the deposited filter at this moment I have 27 grams of deposited ash, what can I do in this case?
If the temperature does not reach the required parameters, there could be few reasons why this happens. 1 faulty temperature sensor 2 faulty dpf injector, blocked add blue line or or pump. The temperature is maintained by injecting fuel or add blue in to the dpf. So I would check in this area to see why the temperature is not reaching.
I want to say that I don't get any error on the tester that some sensor or something else is faulty, only that it's cold outside, the dpf filter doesn't manage to exceed 250 degrees, I checked what you told me and it doesn't seem to be any of these problems
@@fortzosu09 What car are you trying to fix? If it is audi, check for the add blue injectors. Fuel vaporizer or pump. Or if you can swap around the temperature sensors. If you are trying to fix another car, let me know and I'll try send you common issues
@@carsEVsvans The car I have problems with is a vw golf 6 1.6 tdi from 2012, I read the values in real time with a delphi tester and the following values resulted: exhaust gas temperature bank 1 Value 20.0 Celsius degrees; exhaust gas temperature sensor bank 1 sensor 2 Value 20 Celsius degrees; exhaust temperature sensor 1 Value 20 Celsius degrees; Exhaust gas temperature sensor 3 Value 3.9 Celsius degrees; Exhaust gas temperature sensor 4 Value 3.4 Celsius degrees! So in this case I think the DPF exhaust gas pressure sensor is defective and should be replaced? What do you think should be done in this case?
@@fortzosu09 Before replacing the sensors, I always swap the sensors if the wires are long enough and carry out live data test to see if the value changes. And also check the resistance value on all sensor to find out the faulty sensor. I would say using vcds or odis diagnostics would probably give better live data reading.
Hi. Yes you can. There is no harm at all. But what I would suggest instead it to do this procedure 2 times will work a lot better. So instead of putting 2 cans once, do it 1 at a time twice. Thank you for reaching out
