I make curved stems out of sapling branches. Find one with a curve, use blocks to clamp it flat to remove the curve (it must be freshly cut and still green). Drill the hole, unclamp, remove bark and let dry.

Very professional review. WEN or whatever Chinese factory makes the thing ought to be reimbursing him after the fact.

I just started turning a year ago or so and I really need a station like this. I’m definitely going to build one. Thanks for the design!

I have been using a skip tooth regular chain on my electric chain saw. I just heard about a ripping chain for longitudinal cutting logs in half. They are supposed to do a faster better job. Anyone have any experience with ripping chains?

Great video! And really appreciated the materials list. Just finished building mine. I re- purposed some salvaged 2x6" for the upright V's and for the horizontal rail because I had them. Hoping that the 2x6 rail will provide more clamping surface and stability to pieces while rounding them off. Time will tell. Thanks for sharing!

All the things you pointed oùt are actually very durable. Ive had mine for years. My one is made in germany and the germans engineer things perfectly. Way better than American junk.

That came out nice. you should look into a 2x 72 belt grinder with small wheel attachments. You can build them pretty cheap if you can weld. Mine runs on a treadmill motor and I have no complaints. It makes light work out of hand shaping.

Man, reading on forums people made it out to seem you need to have huge jaws for your chuck to turn pipes, as well as a separate set of jaws for turning the stem. You did it with a relatively small set of jaws. I'm just getting started and buying 300+ dollars worth of chuck/jaws/chuck inserts is kind of insane to me. Not to mention the cost of the lathe and decent tools. Do you think it's advisable or safe to get a cheaper set up and some smaller jaws like this? (As opposed to the oneway talon with Tower jaws) thank you!

Heads up when using a collet chuck or collets in general. Put the collet into the nut first and then put the nut into the spindle. This prevents the collet from getting jammed.

Cigarettes also have additives that make them extremely addictive. I smoked cigarettes for 8 years and it was painful to quite. After giving up cigarettes for a few years, I wanted to try cigar. Once I decided to walk away from cigar, there was no craving. The only thing I missed was the enjoyment of the cigar, and having that relaxing time for myself. I did not have the chemical withdraw like I did cigarettes. IMHO the additives in cigarettes should be ban! It is not natural tobacco, and cigarette companies should have never been allowed to add those additives.

Imagine Billy cutting with this saw. He would go nuts. I'm not sure if this will be a good option for me. I live in 5 acres would mostly have access to electric but ahhhhh idk. Great video though! Thank you.
