Don't get fooled by this marketing video. I have 2022 Mazda 6 with Skyactive-G 165. This is a highly disappointing engine inferior to the 1.5l Ecoboost which I had in my 2018 Mondeo. I assume other modern turbocharged engines are similar to Ecoboost. Skyactive has no power until very high rpm (means around 6000, where the engine roars), and the fuel economy is also worse than in 1.5l Ecoboost. The high compression ratio of Skyactive cannot keep up with what turbo does in smaller engines. Furthermore, Skyactive-G 2.0l does not have a balancer shaft which probably leads to increased engine vibrations. I am currently in difficult discussions with Mazda customer support on this issue, and I might provide a further update when I have more answers. Altogether, it seems Skyactive-G is just cutting corners by Mazda, by saving few bucks per engine by avoiding turbo. Mazda is a global corporation that can make any engine they want, they certainly know everything about the poor performance of Skyactive-G.
I have Mazda 2 2022 1.5L and it amazing how good the car runs. I can not complain about it. The motor is very smooth and no problems sir. I tested when i went to Paris and I got 180 km/h. The car is running smooth. Which year is your car?
so skyactive-d ruined diesel? Diesel's main advantage is high torque on low revs. Also if it's more efficient, why fuel consumption is not lower than any other engine with the same volume? mazda took gasoline engine and created form it diesel engine... aluminum engine for diesel!
Of course it is a diesel engine. Fuel ignition is performed with the heat of mechanically compressed air. So, the engine sucks in air and some exhaust gases, but ... nevertheless, by compressing the air, the temperature at which the ignition takes place rises. So Mazda skyactiv D is a DIESEL ENGINE.
