Welcome Back! Good to see this review as this is the first I have heard of this bike. Been thinking of the DR650 and so the WEIGHT on Enfield could be my main issue.
This is a much better bike than the DR. You won’t feel the weight. The DR is simple, is “ok” on everything it does, but the obsolence is there. I love that bike, though.

I try to focus on what you're saying but I keep getting distracted by your tight body. Even when you"re driving, I don't think that bike can give you all you need.

The brake cable has a PVC sheath that slides down in , pull it up cable and you can heat it and bend at slightly angle and fix that issue ….it pissed me off for a while till someone told me , love Hondas with all my heart but the designer of that brake cable across dash was tripping

I owned one of these for nearly 10 years, looking back sorry I sold it. It was under geared for street riding and would run out of RPM long before it ran out of horsepower. Counter shaft with one more tooth really made the bike roll. 83 was the only year they produced that engine. It was big valves with short stroke and was much stronger than later street versions detuned with a longer stroke and smaller valves and a milder cam to be more dirt rideable. I used the motor for 2 years flat track racing in a custom track frame and it was very competitive power wise but there's no substitute for experience... I hope the young lady never experiences kickstarter kickback with flip flops... Break a leg 😮
Without an added fork spring and an upgraded rear shock, it’s pretty shit and dangerous off road. It’s my daily rider and I do a lot of off-roading. You also need some better tires, D606’s are great. Overall solid bike, but fucking sucks on the highway lol
N/B If ever a bike needed an electric start this is it, you can fit the electric start from other XLs & XRs but it is a hassle, battery trays, new stater plates, coils, switch gear etc etc, A firm in Czechoslovakia used to make a kit but they've stopped making them,
