Straight-forward filmmaking. I cut out all the fluff and just get to the point. Making content around: video lighting, video production, tech, gear, and business as well. #AvantLink
I'm starting to get some Super Mario Bros. vibes every time you mention a cool idea and then say it will be in another video. Thank you Mario. But this trick is in another video, lol.
Lol. Those hats are dope. I adjusted my YT stream one time to 4k on my phone so I could zoom in, screen shot it, and then use google lens to find the manufacturer. Now my FB/Instagram feed is full of their ads. Drop your affiliate link and I'll use it. I work nights so always miss these, so question for the next live stream. What's the most interesting or coolest home studio you've designed for a client?
Lol that's funny! Do you have a one you're thinking of getting? alnk.to/clXZcfu That's my affiliate link if you want to use it, appreciate it My fav's are the thermal line and the odyssey
@@FellowFilmmaker The black/khaki Odyssey Hydro was the one that caught my eye on FB, but they're already sold out. Leaning towards the Heather Gray Coronado Scout Thermal now.
Vertical livestreaming on RU-vid is only interesting if you are seen in the RU-vid Shorts and people then switch to your normal content. However, I'm not a fan of smartphone streaming either. I like to use the YoloLiv Instream for verticals or my vMix Pro. You can now also stream vertically. But it was nice to see you on your journey of discovery.😊
You do a great job. I stumbled across your channel yesterday and immediately subscribed. Your dry ice video is one of the best I've seen on that or any other BHS filmmaking subject. Well done! 👍
Thank you, I don't need a gimbal. I shoot most of my works with a drone mini 3 pro and a osmo pocket 1. Even my entry Sony zve10 I don't use very often. It's not the gear, is the storytelling.
i wonder if all lights are 60W then how come so much difference in power output? Colbor as you show at 3:09 mins has 43000 max lux whereas 60W your fav light Godox ML60bi has just 14900 max lux at 6500k (5:51 mins in your video about that light). so is colbor almost three times brighter than godox? I am confuses. Colbor website also gives 20000 lux as max.
X100 battery is big doo doo....stay well clear from this model. Altough Zhiyun has a battery replacement program ( yes thats how bad this was ) lots of people on forums had their newly replaced battery die after 2 days.
NOTICE ❗️ I advise all potential customers to avoid purchasing from GVM. It is a highly unprofessional company with a disorganized logistics center and poor customer support. In case of problems, they avoid responding and finding solutions. They only provide excuses without any justification. They do not respond to requests for refunds or additional benefits. I recommend choosing more professional providers, such as Godox, Aputure, etc.
Sort of breaking news...Godox just made an adapter to go direct from the proprietary mount to a Bowens mount. It's on the B&H website as "coming soon".
REALLY great, practical content, Heather! Very nicely done.👏🏻 Hard to miss the awesome Phineas and Ferb shirts and "PERRY the Platypus!?!!?!?" on your desk...even the teal shoelaces! Hmmmmm....dark teal & nearly orange seat!? VERY cool! Have you worked with Dan & Swampy? Tried to find an imdb for you, but no luck! ~Adam
It depends what your use case is. I’ve had clients specifically request a slider for B or C cam interview shots, in which case, not having one means not pleasing the client. I bought the Accsoon Toprig S60, it arrived in the morning, I used it for a shoot in the afternoon. The thing was so intuitive that I was able to set it up in minutes, calibrate, set A and B points and just let it go. I was able to forget about it and just focus on the rest of the shoot. I think it’s about the user, the reason for using it and the make/model. The right gear for the right person for the right job.
I don’t want to spend so much on a light. I would rather just use a lightbulb(s). I mean that’s what all these lights are. Nice housing with some cool but unnecessary features. What do you recommend?
I just found your channel a week ago and subscribed today as I'm gearing up to market my online counseling private practice through youtube. The first thing I found was a lot of lighting advice (which was super helpful). But the shift to newer content I find valuable, too, because 1) you're discussing aspects of setting up a channel that are far less talked about, 2) these topics are particularly important to sustain a channel that I hadn't thought of, and 3) they have an authenticity that comes from lived experience that increases my trust level in what you're saying. Thanks for this. I'm looking forward to where this channel goes next.
Ronin S sucked so bad: Certain gear is worth looking into though. The lidar that DJI has out is pretty dope. I don’t have AF lenses and I’m able to have it track me and focus with anamorphic glass. But I also have a tilta float that has been sitting and taking up a ton of space for months. In theory a lot of stuff is great. But sometimes the stuff is so complicated that it slows you in your workflow. I hear you & appreciate this info. I have so much stuff and I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Composition, lighting, set design and well planed scenes is the real important aspect here
Кто понимает английский, скажите, она говорит о себе в мужском лице? Если да то хотел бы скрыть её видео из своих рекомендаций.... Автоматические субтитры переводят как будто она говорит от лица мужчины, надеюсь это ошибка.
For the slider shaking, obviously it's because you have to have two tripod, one on each end. I used to not like sliders too but a long slider with TWO tripod on a big shooting day can be pretty cool. I buy a cheap one in second hand for like 20bucks and can be useful to have I think.
of course there's no video about how you connect that camera to the right angle stud. How do you get a camera on to the tip of that? Where is the video?
Hi, I wonder if you know the "output" and "light quality" comparison between W60 and the CL60.. I want to buy one but rather confuse :D (anyway I will use it only INSIDE my studio). Thanks!
I just spent $90 on eBay yesterday for a gently used Ronin S; lol, gimbals, apparently, do not hold their value. I also looked at some of the newer, more expensive gimbal models - it just kinda seems like a bunch of crap I don't really need. In general, I find myself buying outdated and antiquated film gear that works fine but doesn't have the premium price tag of being the latest thing. Young people of the future are going to get pretty lucky with all the old used gear that's going to be out there. I imagine something like a used Sony as7iii will be a few hundred bucks used in a few years, and honestly, how much better can cameras get? 16k resolution? 480 fps? who really needs it.
This content is SOoooo useful and valuable. I hope that people are paying attention. It is one thing to make a quick video about something you are interested in for fun and another to "quit your day job" and totally depend on content creation to pay the bills. So many people concentrate on topics like gear. Thanks for sharing this important information.
great advice - legalese can definitely be intimidating when starting out ... for most of my client work half up front is perfect - actually, for weddings my contract asks for non-refundable half at signing, second half a week before the event, and no one's ever pushed back on that - because they understand that trying to chase down a family member day-of for payment is not good for anyone, and ppl tend to vanish for a while after the event :D
