I couldn’t figure out why I kept expecting mustard to be on the table, until I remembered my mom and I laying on her bed (when my dad wasn’t home), opening a can of sardines in oil. I always had to take the tail off, then I would remove the skin, exactly as you do with the surstromming, then open it at the belly, remove the bones, and then top a saltine with mustard, finely minced onion, and the sardine. You just brought back one of my best memories I ever had with my mother… thank you❤ Ps when they started selling boneless, skinless sardines, I was in heaven!!!

First impression, yes it smells perhaps "bad", the strange thing is after eating it with the correct ingredient's, then it does not smell so bad. First time direct from a can? So so bad, and what a waste of a delicatess 😳
Love your original video you made, glad to see you still doing it! Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to have fermented herring prepared by chef melander

I have tried files three times, a few years between and I am sad to say...NO. It is something in the taste that is wrong, so I go for the "original way"👌🏻

They could not fish enough with herring last year, so they did not can anything. Soon in August they realise this years batch, so now I think it is ok agin😄

Härligt att höra, jag har 10 burkar Oskar som väntar på att snön ska smälta bort. Hårdvaluta förra sommaren, men förhoppningsvis så blir det bättre tillgång av strömming nästa år.
I love these fermented herring videos, Love. I think I first saw one 5 years ago and something made me think of you again. Now I've watched another 3. Would love to hang out with you and try Surströmming the right way. Here in Taiwan we have stinky tofu which I think must be similar in that it doesn't smell that good but it's delicious to eat.
